Manager, Manufacturing/Plant Manager – BC Okanagan

A well-established and growing engineered wood laminate manufacturer located in the central Okanagan is seeking a full-time Plant Manager to join our leadership team.

Reporting to the VP of Operations, the ideal candidate will be responsible for a manufacturing operation of approximately 25-30 employees and will provide overall direction across safety, production, quality, planning, maintenance, and workforce development.

This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives on building high performing teams that convert raw materials into multiple finished product categories with the overarching goal of delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Key Functions and Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Execution

• Strategically allocate workforce resources to achieve production targets in a safe and cost-effective manner.
• Ensure all products are safely produced on time, in full, to company quality standards
• Lead and conduct daily morning meetings to discuss priorities, safety topics, and operational updates, ensuring a cohesive and informed workforce.
• Manage attendance, ensuring accurate time and payroll recordkeeping.

Manufacturing Performance & Improvement

• Analyze plant operations and processes to identify and implement rectification, development, and improvement solutions.
• Optimize production flow, product recovery, scheduling coordination, and bottleneck management.
• Support and implement lean manufacturing principles where applicable.
• Provide technical support and advice on plant processes and improvement of safety, costs, plant and equipment.
• Ensure plant operations comply with safety, environmental and quality standards, managing audits and document crew performance and production metrics promptly and accurately.

Scheduling & Delivery Execution

• Oversee coordination between production schedules and material availability.
• Dynamically adjust operations in response to changing conditions throughout each shift.
• Ensure alignment between manufacturing output and shipping/customer readiness.
• Drive improvements in lead times, predictability, and schedule reliability.

Quality, Warranty & Continuous Improvement

• Drive initiatives to reduce internal deficiencies and warranty claims
• Establish and track key operational KPIs, including on-time delivery, rework rates, warranty and service metrics as well as efficiency and productivity
• Lead corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure plant operations comply with all company and 3rd party quality standards
• Lead the safety program including thorough investigations into operational incidents, focusing on root causes and preventive measures.
• Cultivate a strong culture of safety by actively involving the team in safety programs and ensuring compliance with all policies and regulations.

Team Leadership & Culture

• Actively engage in and promote initiatives to boost and sustain workforce morale
• Identify and develop supervisors and future leaders
• Resolve, document, and escalate personnel issues as appropriate, maintaining a productive and respectful work environment.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams (sales, marketing, customer service, design support, operations) to ensure an exceptional customer and dealer experience
• Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a proven production leader with:

• A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a plant environment.
• A minimum of three (3) years demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail, enabling effective troubleshooting and maintenance strategies.
• The ability to build strong relationships and foster a culture of safety, integrity, and teamwork, essential for maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, alongside the capacity to quickly adapt to computer software programs necessary for managing employee administrative tasks such as timecards, vacation requests, and leaves.
• Demonstrated stress and time management competencies, crucial for managing the demands of a dynamic and sometimes high-pressure work environment.
• A motivational leadership style that encourages team engagement and drives the achievement of safety and operational targets, contributing to a positive work culture.
• High personal drive, commercial instincts, and comfort operating autonomously in a growth‑oriented environment
• A collaborative mindset, balancing independence in the field with strong internal teamwork
• Knowledge of quality or ISO processes
• Excellent time management, critical thinking skills
• Patient, calmness under pressure, professionalism
• Data analysis and financial skill is an asset
• Degree or diploma from an Engineering or Wood Products Processing program would be considered a definite asset

Pay: $90,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
