Outside Sales Representative – GTA

About Us

We are a growing Canadian wholesaler and distributor supplying a wide range of products to ethnic food stores, convenience stores, gift stores, smoking/accessory stores, hookah lounges, cash & carries, restaurants, and other retail businesses.

Our product range includes food products, smoking accessories, gift items, housewares, incense, perfumes, personal care products, and other specialty consumer products.

We are looking for an energetic and motivated Outside Sales Representative to develop new customers, grow existing accounts, take orders, and actively manage customer accounts and outstanding balances throughout the GTA.

Job Responsibilities

• Visit retail stores and businesses door-to-door throughout the GTA to introduce our products and develop new accounts.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
• Identify potential new customers and turn them into active accounts.
• Present products, promotions, new arrivals, and pricing to customers.
• Take customer orders during store visits and submit them to our office/warehouse for processing.
• Collect outstanding payments and balances from customers, follow up on overdue accounts, and work with customers to clear their accounts and keep them within agreed credit terms.
• Coordinate with the office/accounting team to resolve invoice, credit, payment, or account discrepancies that may delay collection.
• Follow up with customers regarding orders, deliveries, new products, promotions, and outstanding invoices.
• Identify customer needs and recommend suitable products from our product range.
• Increase sales and expand our customer base within the assigned territory.
• Monitor competitors, market trends, and customer demand.
• Maintain accurate records of customer visits, orders, collections, and sales activities.
• Travel regularly throughout the GTA as required.

Sales & Collections Expectations

This position is both a sales and customer-account management role. The successful candidate must be comfortable approaching businesses, generating orders, developing long-term customer relationships, and collecting outstanding balances.

The salesperson will be expected to:

• Generate new sales and new accounts.
• Maintain and grow existing accounts.
• Collect payments from customers in accordance with agreed payment terms.
• Reduce overdue balances and help keep customer accounts current.
• Follow up promptly on unpaid invoices.
• Communicate outstanding balances professionally and firmly with business owners/managers.
• Work with management to address customers who are consistently overdue.
• Balance sales growth with responsible credit and collection practices.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of sales experience, preferably in wholesale, distribution, FMCG, food, convenience, ethnic grocery, or consumer products.
• Experience with B2B sales and customer account collections is strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to develop new customers through cold calling and in-person visits.
• Comfortable discussing outstanding invoices and collecting payments from customers.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Valid Ontario driver's licence and reliable vehicle required.
• Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
• Hindi and/or Urdu language skills are a strong asset.
• Self-motivated, organized, energetic, and comfortable working independently.
• Ability to manage a territory and plan an efficient daily visit schedule.
• Comfortable using a smartphone, email, and basic computer applications.
• Must be comfortable with frequent driving and visiting multiple businesses each day.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a results-oriented outside salesperson who is comfortable with both sales and collections.

You should be confident walking into stores, speaking directly with business owners, taking orders, developing new accounts, following up on outstanding invoices, collecting payments, and helping customers keep their accounts clear and current.

Experience selling and collecting from ethnic grocery stores, convenience stores, cash & carries, restaurants, hookah lounges, gift stores, or smoking/accessory stores will be considered a strong asset.
