Position Summary:

The Integrated Youth Services (IYS) Moncton Clinical Coordinator uses in-depth knowledge, experience, and expertise within their professional discipline to provide clinical leadership and to promote a culture of respect, continuous learning, and professional development within their IYS site. They administer, oversee, and coordinate allied integrated health services offered by the IYS Moncton Wellness Site, ensuring the seamless delivery of its core service pathways.

This role provides clinical leadership for the development, delivery, and evaluation of services, outcomes and care planning for the effective utilization of resources through a systems and integration perspective. The Clinical Coordinator acts as a clinical resource to staff, students, and inter-professional team members, facilitates effective problem solving, and promotes collaboration. This position establishes priorities and coordinates growth of core and ancillary services, and the service assignments and schedules for clinical services. The role will identify learning needs and interests of staff, provide educational and orientation programs, coach and mentor, conduct clinical support oversight, debriefing, risk management, and provide formal feedback. This role also is an integral part of a provincial network through a clinical community of practice consisting of clinical leads from across NB-IYS. The balance among domains of work will vary depending upon the stage of implementation and needs of the youth, the practitioners, the care settings, and the communities of the regional network.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

· Provides clinical guidance and expertise, mentoring, coaching and consultation to the center’s interdisciplinary service providers, students, interns, and partners in the clinical care of young people and their families.

· Supporting team members in areas of peer support, youth care work, care navigation, counselling, and other support services.

· In conjunction with IYS Moncton Operations Manager, oversees daily workflow for walk-in and drop-in services, clinical and non-clinical pathways of services, other IYS Moncton allied health services and programs, including monitoring caseload allocation where appropriate.

· Provides clinical support and supervision for walk-in counselling when applicable, with an emphasis on evidence-informed and culturally responsive practice, discussing client care issues, and developing linkages and partnerships with other facilities, agencies, and support groups.

· Collaborates with physicians and/or nurse practitioners, the inter-professional team, and other services to develop, implement and evaluate comprehensive care plans and interventions for youth and their families using systematic assessment, best practices, and evidence-based standards, involving the youth and, where appropriate, the family in the context of their community.

· In conjunction with the IYS Moncton Operations Manager, to support operations, supports the selection process and hiring of new staff, taking into consideration the needs of the collaborative team environment. Provides orientation and training for new staff as needed. Provides input to the program manager on performance evaluations for designated staff. Identifies and supports learning and development needs of staff.

· Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, psychology, nursing, behavioural sciences, or other related clinical field;

· Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team.

· Experience working directly with youth.

· Experience with developing/interpreting policies and procedures and designing and delivering community programs.

· French and English bilingualism required.

· Satisfactory criminal record check and clear vulnerable sector search.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Comprehensive understanding of mental health and substance use issues among adolescents, young adults, and families.

· Demonstrated experience in supervisory processes, clinical supervision models, and/or the ability to assess learning needs, teach, coach, and provide clinical support.

· Demonstrated therapeutic skills in case management, individual, family, and group therapy for clients with diverse mental health and substance use illnesses.

· Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe care principles.

· Ability to manage crisis situations and provide leadership to staff in the management of client crises.

· Excellent communication skills, including speaking, listening, and written communication.

· Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and effectiveness at individual, program, and system levels.

· Highly motivated and passionate about mental health and anti-oppressive work.

Working Conditions

· The workweek is 37.5 hours.

· Flexible work schedules may be required to meet operational requirements.

· Travel within the province and the service region is required.

· Access to reliable transportation is necessary.

· Work in various settings or in partnership with other health agencies is expected.

Compensation

Salary Range:
$85,000 - $100,000 per year.

Overview of Integrated Youth Services

IYS is transforming youth mental health and substance use services in communities across Canada and helping to ensure that young people have equitable access to the range of services they need, when they need them. It’s a dynamic pan-Canadian and international movement that aims to build effective, youth-focused and integrated services for mental health, substance use and related issues. IYS is founded on key principles that can be implemented in different models across jurisdictions and types of communities. Principles of IYS include:

· Youth and family participation in the design and implementation of services.

· Integration of services (mental health, primary care, addictions, counselling, peer support, hospitals, education, social services, including housing, justice, employment) across service providers.

· Continuity of services for youth and young adults (e.g., 12 to 25 years) – this can include integration of child and adult services that focus on this age group.

· Clearly identified, easily accessible points of care in the community that provide rapid access to services – no service refusal, no referral needed, and access to high quality, youth-appropriate, evidence-informed mental health services (could be through integrated service hubs, safe spaces, schools, universities, etc.)

· Ensuring equitable access, including for vulnerable populations of youth, and culturally appropriate care.

· Stepped care models – evidence-informed, appropriate levels of care, at the right time by the right provider to ensure efficient utilization of services.

· Incorporation of online portals and other technologies that facilitate alternative access to information and services.

· Strong research and evaluation to guide continuous quality improvement and measurement of the impact of the transformation of services.

Many IYS networks across Canada focus on building models that integrate the following services: Mental health services (including psychological services and counselling), Youth and family peer support, Substance use services, Primary care (including sexual health), Employment, education & training supports, Social services (including housing), and a variety of recovery programs (e.g., recreation, the arts, life skills, etc.). All IYS services aim to be culturally appropriate, youth informed, relevant, barrier free, timely, and accessible. IYS is also based on building and growing a Learning Health System.
