Overview

At VALOR LABS INC. we are an oil and gas laboratory in Lloydminster, AB. We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Database Administrator to oversee maintenance and small edits to our SQL Database. This opportunity is for part time hourly work based on our needs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our database systems to ensure high availability, security, and performance. This role requires a deep understanding of various database technologies, scripting languages, and performance tuning techniques. The successful applicant will play a critical role in supporting our data infrastructure and ensuring seamless data operations across multiple platforms.

Duties

  • Design, implement, and maintain databases using Microsoft Access Database and other database systems. Perform any changes required by the president and lab manager to improve the database function.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to database performance or connectivity.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in database technology and recommend improvements accordingly.

Experience

  • Proven experience working with SQL databases including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or similar systems.
  • Strong knowledge of database administration principles including security management, backup/recovery procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Expertise in database design, analysis skills, and optimization techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues related to databases and system performance.
