Job Description: Wire Saw Operator/Labourer

The Saw Operator will be responsible for precise and accurate cutting of limestone material for the purpose of making flagstone, stair treads and other prducts that are used for indoor and outdoor applications. As part of your role, you will be required to program saws, measure and accurately cut the material to the required specifications, finish and face maybe be required, and move the finished material to a pallet for final finishing or packaging. As required you will adjust the saw settings to modify the cutting speed to suit the material being cut, and complete the daily maintenance of the saw. You will also be required to complete documentation for inventory purposes. All production must be completed efficiently and safely while ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety Guidelines.

This is a Full-Time seasonal position

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Wear prescribed PPE as required
• Receive production orders (electronically and paper based)
• Ability to interpret material work order forms, locate and identify the correct material(s) to fill the order.
• Safely and efficiently cut limestone products with a high level of accuracy.
• Label all finished skids with our standard label system and all required information, and place product in designated area for customer pick up
• Highlight any quality issues with products as orders are assembled, separate any product that requires re-work or re-classification
• Conduct daily machine inspections and report them through electronic auditing questionnaire
• Perform general labour duties including shovelling, cleanup, and site organization
• Use of a pressure washer, grease gun, and other hand and power tools will be required.
• Completion of any Ministry regulated training (ie: Surface Miner Common Core)
• Other duties may be assigned

Skills & Abilities

• Experience – Wire saw operating expereince preferred
• Communication / Mathematics - Must speak and write English, and be familiar with basic addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication. Must be able to interpret a tape measure.
• Computer Skills – Some computer literacy would be desired - with the use of smart phones / tablets
• Physical – Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis (and greater weight on occasion with team support), have good hand eye coordination, work in noisy environments, work while wearing a respirator.
• Safety -This is a safety-sensitive position requiring strict adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
