Full job description
Operations Manager. Kamloops, BC
Our client is a well-established, stable industrial manufacturer serving mining, oil & gas, forestry, and other heavy industries. This is a rare opportunity to build structure, drive performance, and leave a measurable mark.
The business is financially strong, operationally active, and positioned for its next phase: transitioning from a capable job-shop environment into a disciplined, systems-driven manufacturing operation.
This role is central to that evolution…
What You’ll Be Doing
- Align production, procurement, inventory, and logistics into one cohesive system
- Bring structure to a fast-moving, non-standard environment
- Develop and implement SOPs, workflows, and repeatable processes
- Drive consistency across teams, shifts, and departments
- Improve shop floor rhythm, sequencing, and throughput
- Drive a “no surprises” operating rhythm with proactive issue resolution
- Own key metrics: on-time delivery, labour utilization, productivity
- Turn data into action and hold your team accountable to results
- Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
- Oversee a workforce that includes both union and non-union employees
- Develop systems that reduce variability and reliance on tribal knowledge
- Implement a strict “ready-before-release” production standard
What You Bring
- Proven leadership experience in heavy manufacturing or industrial operations
- Track record of improving productivity, throughput, and delivery performance
- Experience implementing structure and process in environments that lacked it
- Strong presence on the shop floor—someone who leads from the front
- Ability to make tough calls, hold people accountable, and drive change
- Leadership experience in unionized environments
- Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing or similar are a plus
Why This Role Stands Out
- Compensation: $115,000 – $125,000 base + performance bonus + profit sharing + RRSP matching program
- Stability: Diversified customer base across multiple industries
- Impact: High-visibility role with direct influence on operational success
- Variety: No two days are the same—complex projects, multiple workflows, real challenges
- Growth: Opportunity to build systems, shape culture, and elevate performance
If you have what it takes to take ownership of a critical operation and build something that performs at a higher level, we want to hear from you—Apply Now.
Located in BC’s sunny Southern Interior, Kamloops is about an hour’s highway drive from Merritt or Salmon Arm, and just over 2 hrs from Kelowna. It has a variety of terrain, from rocky bluffs, canyons, and grasslands, and it sits at the junction of the Thompson River branches and east of Kamloops Lake. Kamloops draws folks from all over with its many wineries and also has the highest number of golf courses per capita in Canada!
