  • Innovative Mindset – Embracing technology like Epic Robotics.
  • Continuous Improvement – Always looking for a better way to work.

The Role

We are seeking an Intermediate Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-divisional setting. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health of our various business units. This is not just a "data entry" role; you will be responsible for full-cycle oversight, variance analysis, and helping protect company assets through robust internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full-Cycle Oversight: Manage the books of account for multiple entities, including AP/AR, payroll integration, journal entries, and complex bank and brokerage reconciliations.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly financial statements. Perform variance analysis (Actual vs. Budget) to provide leadership with actionable insights into profitability.
  • Budgeting & Cash Flow: Lead the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor daily cash flow, manage banking relationships, and maintain investment schedules.
  • Tax & Compliance: Act as the lead for GST, Payroll, and Corporate tax planning. Maintain clean year-end working papers to ensure seamless annual audits/reviews.
  • Internal Controls: Maintain procedures to safeguard company assets, including evaluating insurance coverage and overseeing internal fund-handling policies.
  • Operational Partnership: Serve as a technical liaison for our project teams (Roofing, Restoration, etc.), providing them with the bookkeeping support and financial clarity they need to succeed in the field.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Experience in the construction or service industry is a significant asset.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or similar ERP systems) and Excel. Experience transitioning or troubleshooting computerized accounting systems is preferred.
  • CPA Track: Possession of, or active pursuit of, a CPA designation is strongly preferred.
  • Soft Skills: You are assertive, a clear communicator, and capable of building professional relationships across all levels of the organization—from field crews to executives.

Why Join Epic Group?

  • Stability & Growth: Work for a well-established Calgary group with a diverse portfolio of companies.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Extended health and dental care, life insurance, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Future Planning: RRSP matching program to help you save for the long term.
  • Culture: On-site parking, regular company events, and a collaborative professional office environment.

Working Conditions

  • Standard office hours in a professional environment.
  • Occasional overtime may be required during peak periods (year-end and audit season).
  • Must be comfortable managing overlapping deadlines for multiple entities.
