Full job description
Simcoe Parts Service is currently recruiting for an Environmental or Computer Science Co-Op student to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a soon to be grad who is interested in expanding their skills within the Information Control and Data- base Management Systems.
In this role, you will assist with the day-to-day functions of the EMS - Environmental Management System to create enterprise-level applications database systems and play role in supporting employee engagement and various program initiatives. SPS’s Co-op program aims to provide students with valuable development experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
System Performance and Continual Improvement
Under the supervision of the QMS/EMS Team:
Collect, verify, monitor, and report environmental and operational performance data.
Assist in analyzing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), environmental trends, and process performance.
Identify data discrepancies, abnormal conditions, and opportunities for continual improvement.
Support the implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions.
Assist in maintaining accurate records to support management review and continual improvement initiatives.
Environmental Data Management
Under the supervision of the QMS/EMS Team:
Collect, validate, and accurately enter environmental and operational data into company databases.
Monitor measuring devices and report abnormal readings or data inconsistencies.
Prepare graphs, trend analyses, dashboards, and performance summaries.
Maintain document and record control in accordance with company procedures.
Ensure all collected information is accurate, complete, and traceable.
Environmental Monitoring and Analysis

Environmental Monitoring and Analysis
Assist with monitoring energy, water, natural gas, diesel, waste, recycling, and environmental performance indicators.
Analyze performance trends and identify potential environmental risks and opportunities.
Support environmental audits-inspections, workplace observations, and data verification activities.
Assist with root cause investigations and continuous improvement projects.
Regulatory Compliance and Environmental Management
Associate will be briefed as to how to support the QMS/EMS in maintaining compliance with:
ISO 14001:2026 Environmental Management System.
ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
Applicable federal, provincial, municipal, and customer environmental requirements.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting with compliance audits and environmental inspections.
Supporting environmental aspect and impact assessments.
Assisting with legal and compliance obligation reviews.
Supporting environmental objectives, targets, and action plans.
Reporting potential compliance concerns to the QMS/EMS Team.
Documentation and Reporting
Prepare technical reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and performance summaries.
Maintain controlled documents and records in accordance with company procedures.
Assist in preparing Management Review inputs, audit evidence, and environmental reports.
Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
Health, Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
Follow all SPS Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures.
Participate in environmental awareness initiatives and continual improvement activities.
Report unsafe conditions, environmental concerns, spills, or non-conformances immediately.
Maintain confidentiality of company information and records.
General Responsibilities
Demonstrate professionalism, initiative, and attention to detail.
Work effectively within cross-functional teams.
Complete assigned projects and administrative tasks within established timelines.
Perform other duties related to the Environmental Management System as assigned by the QMS/EMS Team.
Provide feedback as to how your experience at SPS may contribute to your environmental studies.
Routine outdoor Environmental inspections (30%) In office (80%)
▪ Other duties as assigned.
Work Details:
Monday to Friday 6:30am – 3pm
Hours subject to change / occasional Saturday may be required 4 or 8 months
PREREQUISITES:
▪ Working towards completion of a university or college degree in related field
▪ Proficient skills and experience with Microsoft applications
▪ Must be prepared to sign, and abide by, a confidentiality agreement
