Build Your Legacy. Shape the Future.

At LAURIN, we don’t just build structures — we build careers and communities. Since 1985, we’ve earned a reputation for excellence in construction and project management by delivering projects that matter and supporting the people who make them happen.

We’re seeking an Accounting Co-op Student who is eager to turn classroom learning into meaningful hands-on experience. This opportunity is ideal for a motivated student who wants broad exposure to accounts payable, reconciliations, financial reporting, month-end processes, and day-to-day accounting operations while learning from an experienced accounting team.

Why Join LAURIN?

A co-op term at LAURIN is more than a line on your résumé — it’s an opportunity to learn how complex construction projects come together, contribute meaningful work, and build relationships with experienced industry professionals.

  • Competitive hourly compensation that recognizes your academic progress and relevant experience.
  • Meaningful, hands-on experience supporting active construction projects.
  • Practical exposure to field operations, project coordination, quality, safety, scheduling, and document control.
  • Guidance and mentorship from experienced project management and site professionals.
  • Opportunities to apply classroom learning to real construction challenges and deliverables.
  • Regular feedback and support to help you develop technical skills, professional judgment, and confidence.
  • Inclusive, safety-first culture where questions, learning, and new perspectives are welcomed.
  • Opportunity to build your professional network and be considered for future co-op or full-time roles.

Your Impact at LAURIN

As an Accounting Co-op Student, you will work alongside our accounting team to support day-to-day financial activities and gain hands-on experience in a construction environment. You’ll gain practical experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, month-end processes, financial reporting, and other areas of accounting while contributing to the day-to-day operations of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing invoices, payments, and accounts payable activities.
  • Support account reconciliations and help identify and follow up on discrepancies.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities and related documentation.
  • Support the preparation of journal entries, sales tax filings, and financial reports.
  • Assist with reviewing credit card statements and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Help organize and maintain accounting documentation and files.
  • Support the accounting team with data entry, reporting, and other administrative tasks as required.
  • Assist with special projects and process improvements led by the Controller and accounting team.
  • Develop positive working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders across the organization.
  • Take initiative in learning LAURIN’s accounting systems, processes, and construction-related financial practices throughout the work term.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a diploma or degree program in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Eligible to complete a formal co-op or internship work term through a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Curious, dependable, and willing to learn, ask questions, and take on new responsibilities.

Education & Professional Credentials

  • Active enrolment in an Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or comparable post-secondary program is required.
  • Relevant coursework, academic projects, prior co-op experience, or related work experience will be considered assets.

Eligibility & Security Requirements

At LAURIN, many of our projects require specific employment and security conditions. To be considered, candidates must:

  • Be legally authorized to work in Canada. Please note that LAURIN does not provide or assume sponsorship for work permits or visas.
  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance (Secret clearance is considered an asset).
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of authorization to work in Canada (e.g., valid work permit or Social Insurance Number). All offers of employment are conditional upon obtaining the required security clearance.

Estimated Compensation

The hourly wage for this co-op opportunity is $23.00.

Life at LAURIN

We are an inclusive employer, and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If you require accommodation during the application process, please contact HR@laurin.ca and include the position and location you’re applying for.
