Project Manager 1 - Site C Deficiency, Warranty & Commissioning Planning Lead

Position Highlights
The Site C Project is seeking a highly organized and collaborative professional to support the successful planning,
scheduling, execution, and closure of deficiency, warranty & commissioning activities for the Site C Project. Reporting to the
Site C Project Acceptance Manager, the Site C Deficiency, Warranty & Commissioning Planning Lead acts as the primary
liaison between the Site C Project team, Stations Field Operations (SFO), Area Planning & Scheduling (APS), and Stations
Maintenance Engineering departments to ensure project deficiency, warranty, & commissioning activities are effectively
planned, prioritized, and completed until the completion of the Site C Project.

This role plays a critical part in improving deficiency closure rates by ensuring planning requirements, technical
requirements, work notifications, outage/isolation requirements, and inter-departmental coordination activities are actioned
proactively and aligned with operational priorities.

What you'll do

**Work Planning Management**
  • Serve as the Site C Project subject matter expert for planning and scheduling activities related to deficiency, warranty &
commissioning work.

  • Ensure deficiency, warranty, and commissioning items that are ready for planning and execution are communicated to
SFO and Planning/Scheduling teams in a timely and effective manner

  • Work with Accountable Managers and Supporting Engineers to ensure all planning requirements are addressed well in
advance of target completion dates, including but not limited to:
o Occupational Health and Safety requirements
o BC Hydro Safety Practice Regulations and other safety standards
o Equipment Isolation and/or outage requirements
o Work Permits (Hot Work, Hazardous Waste, etc.)
o Site-specific planning and execution requirements
o Work Pre-requisites (Technical Work Procedures, SDI Certificates, etc.)

  • Ensure SAP SA05 notifications are established for all work requiring SFO resources

  • Coordinate technical support from project teams to assist SFO managers through planning and execution phases of
deficiencies fully assigned to SFO for execution

  • Attend and actively participate in outage planning meetings to ensure deficiency, warranty, and commissioning work is
included in outage worklists well in advance of planned outages

  • Provide collaborative and constructive feedback to Site C APS planning personnel to ensure continuous improvement &
lead resolution of feedback provided to the project.

  • Ensure warranty implications of deferred/cancelled PM are communicated and considered by SFO before being approved
(will involve contract management coordination with contractors).

**Risk Management and Project Escalation**
  • Identify risks that may impact the timely completion of project deficiencies, warranty tasks or commissioning activities and
escalate concerns to the Site C Project Acceptance Manager when medium or high-priority work is proposed for deferral
and may jeopardize completion prior to project closeout.

  • Establish and monitor milestone plans and target completion dates for project deficiencies and warranty claims.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing deficiency closure rates and overall project readiness.

**Stakeholder Engagement and Facilitation**
  • Facilitate meetings with Site C project personnel to improve deficiency management processes, warranty claim processes
and enhance understanding of planning and scheduling requirements.

  • Organize and facilitate specialized work-planning meetings for complex deficiency work packages when required.

  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with construction managers, project engineers, construction officers,
APS personnel, SFO managers, and commissioning teams and others as needed.

What you bring

  • Diploma or degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Project Management, Operations, or a related discipline; or a
red seal trades certification with a minimum of 8 years of field experience in an electrical utility.

  • 6 – 8 years experience in planning, scheduling, commissioning, operations, maintenance, construction, or project
execution environments is required.

  • Experience working within large infrastructure, utility, energy, or capital project environments is considered an asset.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of work planning processes, outage coordination, and operational scheduling practices.

  • Experience using SAP or equivalent maintenance management systems.

  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, permitting requirements, and operational work practices.

  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and priorities in a complex project environment.

  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

What else you should know

Before you apply, please confirm you meet BC Hydro’s time in role requirement. M&P employees must meet the time in role
requirements specified in the updated M&P TIR policy. For MoveUP and IBEW employees, the current time in role as
outlined in the Collective Agreements will apply.

  • This posting is for a Full Time Temporary position with an approximate end date of March 31, 2028.

  • This position will be located out of Site C Construction Office in Fort St John, however other HQ locations may be
considered. Details to be discussed in the recruitment process.

  • Regular travel to Site C is required, including a minimum one-week site visit every twelve weeks.

  • Frequent interaction with project managers, engineers, construction officers, APS personnel, SFO managers, and
commissioning teams is expected.

  • Occasional facilitation of planning sessions, stakeholder meetings, and complex work coordination sessions will be
required.
