Job Description
Reporting to the Head Chef, the Dishwasher is responsible for keeping a clean and sanitary stock of dishes, utensils, glasses, pots/pans, and cooking equipment.
The day to day:
- Ensure a clean and sanitary stock of dishes, utensils, glasses, pots/pans, and cooking equipment is consistently available for kitchen and food service.
- Sort, stack, and load dirty dishware into dish racks in an organized manner to maximize machine capacity and reduce breakage.
- Operate dishwashing equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
- Unload dishware, distributing and storing in designated storage areas.
- Maintain ongoing communication with all departments affecting the kitchen.
- Aid kitchen staff in food prep when directed.
- Ensure the highest level of hygiene and food safety is adhered to according to the restaurant’s standards.
- Ensure that the dishwashing area and equipment is always maintained at the highest level of cleanliness.
- Consistently conduct yourself in a professional and positive manner.
- Aid in maintaining or exceeding department objectives.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- No previous experience required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills required.
- Working-level English communication skills with ability to establish and develop relationships with management and other team members.
- WHMIS Certification and Food Safe Certification is an asset.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, control, and composure in difficult and stressful situations.
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (full shift duration) and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Partial time / Full time availability
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
