Please note this is NOT a camp position. Candidates must live in the area or be willing to commute.

Position: Scale House Operator

Terms of Employment: Full Time Permanent

Rate: $29.38/hourly – $32.77/hourly, Overtime after 8 hours per day

Schedule: 4 on, 4 off, Days (6:00am-6:00pm) and Nights (6:00pm-6:00am)

The Scalehouse Operator is responsible for managing all Scalehouse computer operations related to the loading and documentation of sand shipments at the facility. This role serves as the primary point of contact for drivers and customers while ensuring accurate tracking of all outbound material through the scale system.

This position is highly computer-focused, requiring advanced use of scale software systems, data entry platforms, and Microsoft Excel for tracking, reporting, and load verification. The Scalehouse Operator plays a critical role in maintaining accurate shipping records, coordinating truck traffic, and supporting plant operations through precise documentation and communication.

Due to the high volume of truck traffic and the importance of shipment accuracy, this role operates in a fast-paced, high-stress environment that requires strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and the ability to remain calm and organized under pressure.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Scalehouse & Loadout Operations

• Operate the facility truck scale and scale management software to process and outbound loads.
• Accurately record all material movements including load tickets, bills of lading, and shipment documentation.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel and internal reporting systems to track shipments, reconcile loads, and verify production data.
• Monitor and operate the plant loadout control system to coordinate sand loading into trucks.
• Ensure all load information, product types, weights, and destinations are entered correctly into the system.
• Verify truck information including carrier, truck number, trailer number, load number and product specifications.
• Communicate loadout instructions and traffic directions to drivers upon arrival.
• Manage truck flow at the facility to ensure efficient loading operations.
• Maintain accurate electronic records and documentation for auditing and reporting purposes.
• Identify discrepancies in load weights, product types, or shipment documentation and resolve them promptly.
• Maintain continuous communication with plant operators, logistics personnel, and supervisors regarding loadout status and operational issues.

Administrative & Computer Operations

• Perform high-volume data entry with a high level of accuracy.
• Maintain and update Excel spreadsheets used for shipment tracking, load reporting, and reconciliation.
• Generate reports and summaries of daily loadout activity when required.
• Assist with troubleshooting system issues and report technical concerns to supervisors.
• Ensure all required documentation is completed and filed correctly within the system.

Customer & Driver Interaction

• Greet drivers and visitors and provide clear loading instructions.
• Maintain a professional and service-oriented approach in all interactions.
• Answer incoming phone calls and provide accurate operational information when required.
• Address driver concerns professionally while maintaining operational efficiency.

Risk Management, Health & Safety

• Follow all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
• Ensure operations are conducted with the highest regard for employee and visitor safety.
• Report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents immediately.
• Follow facility hazard assessments and safe work procedures as outlined in the Health and Safety Manual.
• Promote safe operating practices for drivers and visitors on site.

Education & Training:

• Possess a high school diploma or GED.
• A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and database management.
• Valid Class 5 Drivers’ License.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Scalehouse, logistics, dispatch, or high-volume data entry environment preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with computer-based operational systems.
• Experience in industrial operations, trucking, or material load-out environments considered an asset.
