Full job description

Join the Argo-Verse and Build machines with us.

Buskro Ltd. has been providing innovative solutions to the mailing, packaging and printing industries since 1976. With nearly 50 years of expertise, we design and manufacture industrial inkjet systems and print automation equipment used around the world.

In short, we build machines.

We don't build websites.

We don't build accounting software.

We build machines that move, print, inspect, communicate with sensors, and control industrial hardware in real time.

If you enjoy solving problems where software interacts directly with electronics, motion systems and mechanical equipment, you'll fit in well here.

About the Role

We are looking for an Senior Industrial Software Developer to join our engineering team in Pickering, Ontario.

You will lead the design, development and evolution of software powering our industrial printing and automation equipment. Working closely with mechanical, electrical and firmware engineers, you will help define technical direction, solve complex engineering challenges and deliver reliable machine solutions.

This role offers significant technical variety. One week you may be designing a new software architecture, the next debugging communication with industrial hardware, optimizing a Windows kernel driver, integrating a PLC-controlled subsystem, or mentoring another developer through a complex technical problem.

You will be expected to take ownership of major software components, make sound technical decisions, and contribute to the long-term evolution of our software platforms.

What You'll Work On

  • Modern C++ application development
  • Windows desktop software (UI/UX)
  • Windows kernel-mode driver development
  • Industrial communication protocols
  • PLC integration and machine automation
  • Motion control systems
  • Vision and imaging systems
  • Software interacting directly with industrial hardware
  • Diagnostics and performance optimization
  • Software architecture and system design
  • Technical leadership and mentoring
  • Design reviews and code reviews

Required Skills

  • Extensive professional experience developing software in C/C++
  • Strong software architecture and object-oriented design skills
  • Excellent debugging and analytical problem-solving abilities
  • Experience developing software that directly interacts with hardware
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation and machine control
  • Ability to independently lead complex technical projects
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience mentoring developers and conducting technical reviews

Experience in One or More of the Following is an Asset

  • Windows Kernel Driver development
  • PLC programming (Beckhoff, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron, etc.)
  • Motion control
  • Industrial Ethernet, EtherCAT, CAN, Modbus or OPC-UA
  • Serial communication
  • Embedded systems and FPGA interfaces

Who Will Enjoy This Job

This position is for developers who enjoy making physical machines work.

If your passion is around industrial automation, robotics, motion control, machine vision, embedded systems, electronics, or software that directly interacts with hardware, you'll feel at home here.

You enjoy seeing a machine come to life thanks to the software you wrote—and helping others do the same.

You like solving problems that span software, electronics and mechanics, and you're comfortable making technical decisions that directly impact the performance and reliability of a machine.

If your passion is primarily web development, mobile apps, cloud platforms, ERP systems or business software, this role is probably not a good fit.

What We Offer

  • Work on products shipped worldwide
  • Modern C++ development in a real industrial environment
  • Exposure to mechanics, electronics and industrial automation
  • A small engineering team where your work has immediate impact
  • Opportunities to influence product architecture and technical direction
  • Opportunities to contribute across software, hardware and machine design
  • Long-term product development rather than contract work
  • A collaborative environment with a high degree of autonomy, ownership and technical leadership

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year

Application question(s):

  • Have you developed software that directly controls industrial equipment, machinery, robotics, PLCs, embedded devices, or hardware?
  • How many years of professional C++ experience do you have?
  • Describe one project where your software interacted directly with hardware or industrial equipment.
