Who Are We Looking For?

Neptune Technology Group is currently searching for an experienced, detail-oriented, and collaborative accounting professional to join our Finance team as Manager of Accounting, based out of our Mississauga office. This role is central to the integrity of Neptune’s financial reporting and control environment, overseeing a team of five across payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, and an accounting supervisor. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, a process improvement mindset, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to senior stakeholders.

Job Duties

  • Lead and develop a team of five accounting professionals spanning payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, and an accounting supervisor
  • Own the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion across all accounting functions
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements — including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements — in compliance with US GAAP and other relevant standards
  • Manage balance sheet forecasting, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external audit activities, serving as the primary Finance contact for audit engagements
  • Ensure Canadian tax compliance, including oversight of filing obligations and coordination with external advisors as required
  • Monitor the effectiveness of control systems and continuously improve the overall Neptune Canada control environment
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements and other statutory obligations, including parent company (Roper Technologies) deliverables
  • Drive process improvement initiatives across accounting operations to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
  • Effectively communicate financial information to senior leadership and other stakeholders

Requirements

  • Relevant accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
  • Prior experience in a management or supervisory capacity
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Experience managing external audit relationships and Canadian tax compliance obligations
  • Demonstrated track record of leading process improvement initiatives

Specifications

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage, coach, and develop a team
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, particularly in balance sheet management and month-end close
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present financial information to non-finance audiences
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience with SAP (required); familiarity with SAP S/4HANA is an asset
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment

Benefits

  • A competitive salary and benefits package
  • Hybrid work environment — 2 days in office (Mississauga), 3 days remote
  • Competitive retirement and deferred profit-sharing plan
  • Education reimbursement
  • Employee assistance program
  • Three weeks of vacation to start
  • Wellness program
  • Company events

Reporting Structure: This role reports directly to the Director of Finance, Canada.

Team: The Manager of Accounting will inherit an established team of five — Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, a General Accountant, and an Accounting Supervisor. People leadership and team development are important dimensions of this role.

Candidate Profile Notes:

  • CPA designation is required
  • SAP experience is a hard requirement given our current ERP environment; candidates with S/4HANA exposure are preferred
  • This is an operational accounting role with a strong controls and compliance mandate
  • US GAAP experience is essential given our parent company reporting obligations
  • We are looking for someone who is hands-on and process-improvement oriented - this is not a purely supervisory role

Experience Level Guidance: We are looking for an experienced, established manager - not a first-time people leader looking to level up. The team includes long-tenured staff alongside junior staff who are eager to develop. The right candidate needs to walk in with credibility on day one: able to lead and be respected by experienced direct reports while also coaching and developing junior team members.

That said, we are not looking for a purely steady-state operator. Neptune Canada is in a high-change period — including an active ERP migration — and this role needs someone who is genuinely energized by process improvement and organizational change, not someone who will be destabilized by it. The ideal profile is an experienced accounting manager who has navigated system implementations, workflow redesigns, or business growth in a previous role and can bring that lens to this team.

Pay: $105,000.00-$130,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Mississauga, ON L5N 5M9
