JOB DESCRIPTION
Junior Wireless / NTN Tester - Part-Time
ML arteka is seeking a junior, hands-on tester to support Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) and wireless device testing on a part-time basis. This role is suited to an early-career candidate who is interested in telecom testing, satellite-enabled connectivity, IoT devices, and practical lab/field validation. The tester will work under the guidance of senior engineers and SMEs and will be trained on project-specific tools and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute predefined NTN and wireless test cases using provided procedures, devices, SIMs, and test tools.
- Perform basic connectivity validation such as network registration/attach, data sessions, SMS, coverage/availability checks, and device behaviour observations.
- Support NTN IoT and device testing in lab and field environments, including setup, configuration, firmware/patch installation, and repeat/retest activities.
- Capture test evidence, screenshots, device information, timestamps, and logs as instructed; perform basic log review and escalate findings to senior testers/SMEs.
- Record results accurately, identify reproducible failures, and maintain clear test execution notes and defect information.
- Assist with equipment preparation, device charging, cabling, antenna/setup checks, and general test environment readiness.
- Work with senior engineers, network teams, vendors, and other testers to reproduce issues and complete assigned testing.
- Follow test plans, safety procedures, and documentation standards; learn relevant 3GPP, 4G/5G, IoT, and NTN concepts as required.
Qualifications
- 0-1 year of relevant testing, telecom, networking, electronics, IoT, or technical support experience; co-op, internship, academic lab, or personal project experience is acceptable.
- Diploma or degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Networking, or a related field is preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
- Basic understanding of cellular technologies such as LTE and 5G; familiarity with 5G SA/NSA is an asset.
- Interest in satellite communications, NTN, IoT/NB-IoT, device/network testing, or wireless technologies.
- Comfort following detailed test procedures and working with smartphones, IoT devices, laptops, cables, antennas, and basic test equipment.
- Ability to document results clearly in English and communicate issues to senior team members.
- Well organized, detail oriented, dependable, and willing to learn.
- Availability for part-time work with some flexibility for scheduled field activities, off-hours testing, or occasional weekends when project testing requires it.
- Valid driver licence and access to a vehicle are preferred if field testing around the North Bay area is required.
1. Basic knowledge of LTE/5G and strong interest in NTN/satellite or IoT testing.
2. Ability to follow test procedures, execute tests carefully, and document results.
3. Part-time availability with flexibility for occasional non-standard hours or field activities.
1. Exposure to NTN, satellite communications, NB-IoT/IoT, or device/network testing.
2. Familiarity with device logging or diagnostic tools (e.g., QXDM or vendor tools).
3. Previous lab, field, co-op, internship, or technical project experience.
This is a junior, part-time position focused primarily on NTN testing. The successful candidate will receive guidance from senior testers/SMEs and is not expected to independently perform advanced protocol analysis or root-cause analysis at the start of the role.
Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 20.0 per week
Work Location: In person
