POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Mine Surveyor is responsible for supporting active mining operations by performing high-precision field surveys in a dynamic, safety-critical environment.

Working a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation, you'll perform production, infrastructure, and as-built surveys while working closely with mine operations, engineering, and construction teams. This role requires excellent situational awareness, strong communication skills, and the ability to safely work around large industrial mobile equipment.

Previous experience in the Alberta oilsands mining industry is considered a strong asset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Mine Survey Operations

  • Perform production, grade control, topographic, and as-built surveys within active mining environments.

  • Complete layout and stakeout for mine infrastructure and operational projects.

  • Operate GPS, robotic total stations, digital levels, and other survey equipment.

  • Collect accurate field data and maintain complete survey records.

  • Verify survey accuracy through quality control procedures.

Operational Support

  • Work closely with mine operations, engineering, and construction personnel.

  • Interpret engineering drawings and mine plans.

  • Assist with survey calculations and field problem solving.

  • Maintain survey equipment in safe working condition.

Safety

  • Work safely around large industrial mobile equipment, including haul trucks, shovels, excavators, graders, and dozers.

  • Follow all site-specific safety procedures and client requirements.

  • Complete Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) and required documentation.

  • Promote a strong safety-first culture at all times.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of surveying experience in industrial, construction, or mining environments.

  • Strong understanding of survey principles and field procedures.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and mine plans.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple crews.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Assets:

  • Previous oilsands mine survey experience.

  • Experience working around large industrial mobile equipment.

  • Experience using Trimble Access and Trimble Business Center (TBC).

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.

  • CSTS 2020

  • CSO

  • H2S Alive

  • Standard First Aid with CPR

  • Ground Disturbance Level II (considered an asset)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain client site access.

  • Successful completion of pre-access drug and alcohol testing.
