Full job description

Staff Plus is hiring a Licensed Millwright for a full-time opportunity with an established food manufacturing company in Scarborough, Ontario.

This is a hands-on industrial maintenance role supporting high-speed production and packaging equipment. You will troubleshoot equipment issues, complete preventive maintenance, perform repairs and help ensure the facility operates safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime.

Candidates must hold a valid Ontario 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright licence or 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician licence.

What You’ll Do:

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic problems on production and packaging equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment failures using test equipment, diagnostic tools, schematics and technical manuals.
  • Complete preventive maintenance, equipment inspections and corrective repairs.
  • Document maintenance work using manual and computerized maintenance systems.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams and equipment manuals.
  • Install, set up, test, calibrate and maintain production equipment, instrumentation and control systems.
  • Adjust and calibrate weighing systems, metal detectors, printers, labelling equipment and related devices.
  • Complete welding, basic machining and light fabrication work when required.
  • Support equipment installations, upgrades and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Work with production, maintenance and engineering teams to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Follow all health and safety, food safety, lockout and plant procedures.

What You’ll Need

  • Valid Ontario 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright licence or 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician licence.
  • At least three years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Experience in food, beverage, food ingredients, pet food, pharmaceutical, specialty chemical or another process-manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience maintaining production or packaging machinery.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics and equipment manuals.
  • Preventive maintenance and repair-documentation experience.
  • Welding and basic fabrication skills.
  • Strong attention to safety, equipment reliability and production quality.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs in a fast-paced production environment.

What will set you apart:

  • Multiple disciplines/Dual ticket training from a Trade certification.
  • Three years experience working in a CFIA-regulated manufacturing facility.
  • Dual-ticket or multiple-trade certification.
  • Instrumentation, calibration or production-control system experience.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance-management system.
  • Continuous-improvement or equipment-reliability experience.

Work Environment and PPE

This is a safety-sensitive position. The successful candidate must complete employer-provided respirator fit testing and be able to wear a fitted NIOSH-approved N95 respirator, or an approved alternative, when required.
