Full job description

Starsky Fine Foods is seeking an experienced Meat Department Manager for its Hamilton location at 685 Queenston Road.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Overseeing the day to day operations of the department.
  • Merchandising, quality control, maintaining cleanliness and overall organization of the department.
  • Staff management and training, scheduling, and customer service.
  • Cutting and preparing meat products.
  • Assist customers with special orders and oversee the special orders system.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience managing a meat department
  • Butchery cutting skills required
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of organizational skills and task prioritization.
  • The ability to plan, control and organize to ensure departmental objectives are meet daily.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment and solve problems effectively.
  • Superior understanding of market trends, suppliers, vendors and the meat industry at large.
  • Ability to manage, motivate, coach, and develop employees to meet business objectives.
