Job Opportunity: Maintenance Foreman (Housing Association)

Please read the full advertisement carefully to ensure this role aligns with your experience, qualifications and lifestyle. We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Foreman to lead the daily operations of a Housing Association in one of Nunavut’s small communities.

Important Note on Residency: This is a full-time, permanent residential position, not a fly-in/fly-out (turn-around) role. The successful candidate must relocate to the community and will receive one paid vacation per year. Relocation costs paid for by employer.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered, you must possess the following credentials:

  • Journeyperson Certification: A valid residential trade ticket (Plumber, Oil Burner Mechanic, or Carpenter).
  • Trade Experience: At least 5 years of post-journeyperson experience in residential maintenance.
  • Leadership: A minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or management role, leading crews of up to 10 workers.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on expertise in diverse aspects of residential building maintenance.

We are looking for a highly organized professional with:

  • Project Management & Strategic Planning: Proven experience in managing projects and implementing strategic goals.
  • Leadership & Team Mentorship: Strong capabilities as a leader, manager, and mentor, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and develop others.
  • Administrative & Technical Proficiency: High-level administrative skills, specifically within the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Critical Thinking & Communication: Exceptional problem-solving abilities and clear, professional communication skills.
  • Proactive Work Ethic: A dedicated, proactive approach to addressing challenges and driving results.

Compensation & Application

  • Salary: $120,000 – $150,000 per annum.

  • Do you have 5 or more years experience working on residential maintenance, excluding commercial and industrial work?
  • Have you worked in Nunavut before? Not mandatory to have worked in Nunavut, however it is an asset.
  • This is not a rotationala position, are you willing to move to Nunavut full time for this position, taking one vacation to the south, per year?

Experience:

  • Certified tradesperson: 5 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • residential trade certificate at the journeyman level (required)
  • Driver's License to legally drive in Canada (required)
