What You’ll Excel At

  • Team Leadership & Workflow Management: Leading a team of yard associates, managing daily workflows, and driving continuous process improvement to elevate our yard's efficiency.
  • Shipping & Receiving Logistics: Overseeing shipping and receiving operations, managing incoming shipments with caution, facilitating driver loads, and conducting cyclical inventory counts to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Yard Stewardship & Organization: Taking ownership of advanced yard organization to maintain a clean, organized, and presentable yard environment where products are always in their proper locations.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Providing superior service by assisting contractors and homeowners with loading and unloading vehicles with politeness and courtesy.
  • Precision Order Building: Accurately preparing orders based on sales paperwork while maintaining our high-quality standards.
  • Safety & Skill: Safely operating yard forklifts and saws while following all safety regulations to maintain a hazard-free workplace.
  • Collaborative Communication: Working closely with the Sales and Operations teams to communicate stock levels, discrepancies, or quality issues.

What MVBM is Looking For

  • Proven Yard Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working in a lumber yard or building materials environment is required.
  • Leadership Credentials: Demonstrated experience leading a team, managing workflows, and implementing process improvements.
  • Equipment Mastery: A valid forklift certification is preferred.
  • Logistics Expertise: A strong, established background in shipping and receiving.
  • A Positive, Energetic Attitude: Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, "customer-first" environment.
  • Physical Stamina: The ability to work long hours outdoors, lift heavy items (up to 60 lbs), and adapt to various weather conditions.
  • Reliability & Detail: A strong work ethic with an eye for detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Safety-Minded: A strong commitment to following safety protocols, modeling safe behaviors, and attending required training sessions.

This full-time, Monday through Friday position is based at our Calgary yard, located at 125 Commercial Court.
