Full job description

The Mechanic (421A) at Miller Group, a subsidiary of Colas Canada, is responsible for servicing and maintaining a range of equipment, including light vehicles, heavy trucks, hydraulics, electrical, and heavy power trains. The role involves both preventative and predictive maintenance, as well as on-road emergency repairs. Candidates must hold a 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Licence and be able to diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical systems. A valid G licence, strong work ethic, and willingness to take on new challenges are essential. Experience with diagnostic software, torch and welding, and roadside service is an asset. The compensation targets $35-$45 per hour, depending on qualifications.

Day in the Life

You will be the backbone of our fleet, responsible for servicing and maintaining all of our equipment, including light vehicles, heavy trucks and equipment, hydraulics, electrical and heavy power trains. Each day will be different as some service calls are off site or require emergency on-road repairs requiring you to diagnose and rectify the problem. Preventative and predictive maintenance will be important to stay on top of, as well as daily service documentation to ensure overall organization of the shop.


Safety will always be your number one priority as you promote, lead, and execute a safety-first culture for all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants. Your opinion will be valued as you assist in decision making for any outside repairs to the equipment as well as support for overall general shop maintenance. You will be an essential part of our team ensuring our equipment runs smoothly and efficiently, like a well-oiled machine.

Qualifications

  • 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Licence
  • 310T Truck and Coach Technician License or 310S Automotive Service Technician Licence, an asset
  • Valid G license
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Willingness to take on new challenges
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Enjoy working in a team environment
  • Experience in repairing hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Possess own set of tools
  • DZ license, an asset
  • Road side service experience an asset
  • Experience with diagnostic software an asset
  • Torch and welding experience an asset

Compensation Data

Targeting $35-$45 per hour dependant on successful candidate's qualifications.
