About FTC Innovation

FTC Innovation is one of Canada's fastest-growing telecommunications infrastructure contractors, delivering turnkey fiber optic solutions across the country. Our services include Right of Entry (ROE), engineering, civil construction, structured cabling, fiber splicing, testing, customer activations, and project management for Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) developments.

As we continue expanding our Manitoba operations, we are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead our construction and MDU programs while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

Position Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day field operations throughout Manitoba. This role will lead construction, MDU deployment, installation, project execution, subcontractors, and internal field teams while working closely with project managers, clients, and executive leadership.

The ideal candidate is a proven operational leader with experience managing large telecom or utility construction programs and has a strong background in people leadership, production management, quality control, scheduling, and financial accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations across all Manitoba MDU and construction projects.
  • Lead field supervisors, foremen, installers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to client specifications.
  • Monitor production, productivity, KPIs, quality, and financial performance.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and fleet utilization.
  • Review project schedules and allocate resources to maximize efficiency.
  • Work closely with clients to maintain strong relationships and resolve operational issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement in construction processes and field execution.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and client requirements.
  • Conduct regular site visits, quality audits, and operational reviews.
  • Support recruiting, training, coaching, and performance management of field personnel.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning.
  • Collaborate with engineering, ROE, sales, logistics, and executive leadership to ensure seamless project delivery.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of operations management experience in telecommunications, utility construction, civil construction, or infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of MDU construction and fiber optic deployment.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Proven ability to lead large field teams and subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of scheduling, budgeting, productivity tracking, and reporting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with project management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout Manitoba.

Preferred Experience

  • FTTH or telecommunications infrastructure projects.
  • MDU construction programs.
  • Fiber optic construction, splicing, and customer activation.
  • Civil construction and underground utilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Experience working with telecom providers and large infrastructure clients.
