Full job description

About the Organization

The Disability Claims Advocacy Clinic Inc. (DCAC) is a nationally respected advocacy organization established in 1998. We provide advocacy and case‑management services to individuals applying for or appealing denied Canada Pension Plan (CPP) disability benefits.

Our mission is to improve access to justice for Canadians with disabilities—particularly individuals who face barriers to legal representation due to health, financial, or systemic challenges. DCAC operates with a strong focus on compassion, professionalism, and work‑life balance.

Position Summary

DCAC is seeking a Junior Lawyer licensed in Saskatchewan who is early in their career and interested in meaningful advocacy work within a supportive, low‑burnout environment.

This role is well suited to lawyers seeking sustainable practice, exposure to administrative law, and client‑focused advocacy without the intensity of traditional firm environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and representation in CPP disability appeals and related matters
  • Review and analyze medical, vocational, and supporting documentation
  • Draft written submissions and legal correspondence
  • Prepare clients for administrative hearings and represent clients as required
  • Collaborate closely with Disability Advocates and case management staff
  • Communicate with clients in a clear, compassionate, and trauma‑informed manner
  • Maintain organized files and meet reasonable deadlines

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Saskatchewan (required)
  • Early‑career lawyer (approximately 0–5 years’ call preferred)
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Interest in administrative law, social benefits, or disability advocacy
  • Ability to explain legal processes clearly to non‑lawyers
  • Professional judgment, integrity, and strong work ethic
  • Ability to manage a small caseload independently with support

Assets (Preferred but Not Required)

  • Experience in administrative law, CPP disability, or social benefits
  • Experience appearing before administrative or quasi‑judicial tribunals
  • Experience working with clients with disabilities or mental health conditions
  • Background in legal aid, clinics, public‑interest law, or advocacy work

What We Offer

  • Reasonable compensation
  • Schedule designed to support work‑life balance
  • Mentorship and collaboration in a supportive environment
  • Meaningful advocacy work with national impact
  • No billable‑hour targets

Application Process

Please submit a resume and brief cover letter outlining your interest and relevant experience.

We thank all applicants for their interest. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

  • Dental care
  • Disability insurance
  • Extended health care
