Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Tagalog speaking Legal Assistant to join our dynamic team in Downtown Winnipeg. In this role, you will support our lawyers by managing client communication, legal documentation, conducting research, and ensuring smooth administrative operations.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing documents and correspondence based on written instruction, verbal direction, and precedents;
  • Serve as the primary liaison for Tagalog-speaking clients, overseeing all communications and appointment scheduling.
  • Support the full lifecycle of legal transactions by drafting, monitoring, and following up on essential documentation through to the final production of closing books.
  • Prepare and format estate planning documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and beneficiary designations.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare reports to support case preparation.
  • Prepare and file necessary court documents for probate and estate administration applications.
  • Maintain filing systems and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Data input and generating reports and billings from our electronic practice management program Cosmolex, manage account receivable.
  • Collaborate with team members to streamline workflow processes.
  • Day-to-day support for more than one lawyer’s practice

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, skill and/or abilities:

  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and integrity in handling confidential information.
  • Good organizational and time management skills;
  • Exceptional attention to detail;
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and adept at leveraging various technologies;
  • Ideal candidate will be familiar with Cosmolex
  • Collegial, and prepared to help others and work as a team with other support staff
