Bureau Veritas is actively hiring for multiple positions, and we'd love for you to join us!


Sample Preparation Technician - You will sort rock and soil samples by hand and crush/pulverize samples using equipment.

Job Duties:


Job Overview and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare geological samples by crushing, pulverizing or sieving according to Standard Operating Procedures without deviation unless authorized by the Manager
  • Ensure fast and accurate processing of incoming samples in priority sequence
  • Scan crushing / pulverizing QC checks and equipment used and boxes to the next station upon completion of pages, as required
  • Perform and document quality checks during sample preparation according to SOP and halt production upon consultation with the Supervisor where non-compliant
  • Operate and clean equipment and notify shift Lead-Hand or Supervisor when equipment maintenance is necessary
  • Comply with occupational health and safety legislation, BV Group Policies and Procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the position
  • Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Provide feedback to Lead-Hand or Supervisor for possible improvements in his/her work area
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum completion of high school or equivalent
  • Previous experience using heavy equipment or working in a mineral processing lab preferred, but not required
  • Excellent command of the English language, with overall strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift weights of 20-50 lbs for prolonged periods
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Great attitude with an open and inclusive mindset

Current Shifts Available:

  • Day Shift: 6:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday-Thursday
  • Overnight Shift: 5:00 pm - 3:30 am, Monday - Thursday
  • Weekend Day Shift: 7:00 am - 7:30 pm
  • Weekend Night Shift: 7:00 pm - 7:30 am

Pay Rates:

  • $20.51 per hour + $1.89 per hour for the Northern Living Allowance Premium
  • Additional shift premiums for select shifts

Yukon Nominee Program Info:

This position does not include guaranteed support under the Yukon Nominee Program. Any future support is discretionary. Bureau Veritas considers employees on a case-by-case basis, at the manager’s discretion, after 1 year of employment. We only consider exceptional employees for this program and can only grant a few people this opportunity each year. Due to the high degree of interest in this program, it is unlikely it will be granted.
