Full job description

Landscape Designer

Vandenberg Landscapes

Full-time, hybrid

Chilliwack, BC

$95,000 per year, plus benefits

You decide whether it gets built right

At Vandenberg Landscapes, we design high-end outdoor spaces for families in the Lower Mainland. Concepts come out of the room with the client. What happens next is where projects are won or lost, and that part belongs to you.

You'll own the translation from approved concept to buildable reality: the working drawings our crews build from, the drawings our pricing team quotes from, and the 3D renderings our clients say yes to. When a grade change means a retaining wall is needed along the property line, you catch it. When a dimension doesn't work with the real site conditions, you catch that too. Nobody has to point it out.

About the role

You'll work from high-level concepts developed by our principal designer and turn them into complete technical drawing packages and client-ready renderings. After a proposal is signed, you're on site reviewing conditions, taking accurate measurements, recording elevations, and shooting photos so your drawings reflect what's actually there instead of what someone assumed. You are the last person between a design and a build crew, and we treat that as a real domain. Bringing ideas forward when you see a better way, with reasoning behind it, is encouraged.

What you'll do

  • Turn approved concepts into complete, accurate 2D working drawings for construction and pricing
  • Produce polished, presentation-ready 3D renderings
  • Conduct site visits to gather measurements, elevations, and photos
  • Apply practical construction knowledge (grading, retaining structures, drainage, dimensional accuracy) to ensure drawings are buildable, and prevent problems before they reach the field
  • Raise design improvements with clear rationale, and know when to handle something yourself versus flag it up
  • Keep drawing sets, revisions, and files organized and on schedule across several active projects

Who we think will thrive here

  • 3+ years in landscape design, architectural drafting, or a closely related technical role
  • Expert-level in a 2D drafting platform (AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Dynascape or similar) and a 3D visualization platform. (SketchUp, Rhino, Structure Studios, or similar)
  • Can read a 2D plan in order to build an accurate, well-matched 3D model from it, grading and house model included.
  • Takes a brief and runs with the technical execution
  • Organized, deadline-driven, comfortable with several live projects at once
  • Available for regular site visits in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley

Why this role

High-end residential design-build work, with full ownership of the technical and spatial side of every project. You'll have real input, room to grow your design responsibility over time, and a team that trusts your judgement.

What we offer

  • $95,000 per year
  • Benefits
  • Hybrid work
  • Training and development
  • Room to grow into greater design ownership over time

How to apply

Send your resume and a portfolio of technical drawings/renderings.

Record a 90-second video talking about a time you caught something in a drawing set or on site that would have cost real money if it had gone unnoticed. What did you see, what did you do about it, and how did it land?

Reminder: Only applicants who submit a portfolio of work along with the recorded video will be considered.

Pay: $95,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Chilliwack, BC
