Full job description

PURPOSE

This position is responsible for the installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of gas lines and gas equipment such as meters, regulators, heating units and appliances in residential, commercial and industrial establishments.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Installing/Exchanging Gas Utility Equipment — pipes, meters, regulators on utility side of meter and connections to supply lines.
  • Maintaining and repairing gas lines on the utility meters and minor repairs on the customer meter.
  • Testing of safety controls on defective equipment and/or components.
  • Apply testing and replacements for utility equipment only.
  • Testing and adjustment of control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices.
  • Advising clients regarding standards, safety features, and maintenance of gas units and system.
  • Flexibility to travel to different locations within assigned work Area/Region.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALITIES

  • Knowledge of Gas-fired appliances and their basic operations
  • Ability to use Manufacturer's Certified Instructions to Diagnose possible issues
  • Solid understanding of the B149 & Ontario Regulation 212 (Gaseous Fuels)
  • Analytical skills

  • Solid Attention to Detail and Appreciation for Public Safety

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a clear Police Background Check
  • Must be able to obtain Commercial Liability Insurance
  • Must be licensed under the TSSA as a Gas Technician 2 or Gas Technician 1 (An Asset)
  • Must have Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning training from an approved institution
  • Must have a minimum of 1-3 years verifiable work experience within this trade

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Contractual agreement will be presented once a drivers abstract and criminal background check is submitted.
  • Ability to travel
