Full job description
STRATENYM is a fully remote international market access consultancy that partners with pharmaceutical clients to deliver strategic insight and top-tier deliverables. We offer end-to-end support for product launches around the world. Our network comprises expert consultants in value communications, evidence reviews & data synthesis, economic modelling, pricing, & stakeholder engagement. Our team brings hands-on experience in the toughest access challenges, including high-cost and innovative product launches in rare, ultra-rare, and under-served conditions. Much of our business is earned through the consistent quality of our work and our collaborative approach—both of which are only possible thanks to our elite team.
At STRATENYM, our culture can be summed up simply:
You Succeed. We Succeed.
We believe that autonomy and pride in a job well done are key drivers of success. That's why we've built a culture where personal satisfaction and professional growth are top priorities. Our commitment is to provide the structure and support our staff need to truly shine.
We're not a traditional organization—and we don't want to be. STRATENYM is a relatively flat company, intentionally designed to foster collaboration over hierarchy. Our team-based, functional structure supports both client-facing projects and internal operations, creating a dynamic and responsive environment.
While other companies are pushing employees back into offices and swapping individual desks for open work spaces, we’ve taken a different path. We've embraced remote work from day one—carefully curating virtual teams made up of passionate experts who bring energy, enthusiasm, and a love for science and medicine to everything they do.
We're focused on creating an environment where our employees can thrive—not just work. When people feel good about what they're doing and are surrounded by others who feel the same, work becomes more meaningful. Knowledge grows. Careers blossom. People excel.
Apply today if you'd like to join our elite team!
**This role is open to applicants authorized to work in Canada or the UK**
As the Director of Evidence Reviews and Data Synthesis, you will bring a pragmatic mindset to client challenges, ensuring your team delivers the right balance of quality, efficiency, and timely execution. In addition to overseeing research activities, you will play a crucial role in business development efforts to expand the reach and impact of your department. Your strategic vision and ability to cultivate partnerships will contribute to the growth and sustainability of the organization. Importantly, you will ensure your team is supported, productive, and working sustainably. In this role, you will keep the department of evidence reviews running smoothly without requiring frequent involvement from upper management. You will be the primary leader responsible for team direction, prioritization, performance, workload balance, and day-to-day problem-solving—creating an environment where people can do great work and no one quietly burns out. This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys managing people and can combine empathy with firmness, clarity, and follow-through.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
- Provide strategic direction for the systematic review and data synthesis program, aligning goals with organizational objectives.
- Develop and implement innovative approaches to enhance the efficiency and quality of systematic review processes.
- Participate in leadership decisions related to the team, service offering, and corporate growth.
2. Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including following up on client prospects/leads and spearheading collaborative partnerships.
- Lead proposal development, including scoping, budgeting, preparing and delivering project proposals and pitches, and reviewing statements of work and change orders.
- Participate in networking events such as conferences and on-site client meetings.
3. Team Management:
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of researchers, analysts, and support staff.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes professional growth and development.
- Assign responsibilities, set goals, and evaluate performance to ensure the successful execution of projects.
4. Strategic Expertise:
- Conceptualize secondary research initiatives, including systematic literature reviews and targeted reviews, in a pragmatic, solution-oriented manner.
- Strengthen STRATENYM’s position in the field of market access/HEOR through various marketing initiatives, including conceptualizing and executing webinars, panel discussions, white papers, conference presentations, etc.
- Translate research findings into actionable recommendations for clients and other stakeholders.
5. Methodological Expertise:
- Provide relevant and useful literature review and evidence synthesis expertise and advice to clients in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and device industries.
- Stay abreast of advancements in systematic review methods and evidence synthesis techniques.
- Ensure adherence to established protocols and standards for conducting systematic reviews.
6. Project Oversight:
- Oversee the planning and execution of systematic reviews and evidence synthesis projects.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to define research questions, search strategies, and inclusion criteria.
7. Quality Assurance:
- Establish quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of systematic review outputs.
- Conduct internal reviews and audits to identify areas for improvement and address any discrepancies.
- Provide guidance on reporting standards and facilitate the publication of review findings in peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications/Requirements
- PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., epidemiology, public health, health sciences, social sciences)
- Extensive experience in conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses, including proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Covidence, Distiller, Nested Knowledge, EndNote)
- Strong leadership and management skills, with demonstrated experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex projects
- In-depth knowledge of research methodologies, evidence synthesis techniques, and statistical analysis methods
- Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to distill complex information for diverse audiences
- Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and contributions to evidence-based practice or policy development
- Proven experience in business development, including grant writing, proposal development, and partnership building
- Exceptional written and spoken English
- Confident and professional demeanour; comfort interacting with senior pharmaceutical company executives
- Ability to travel internationally
