Senior Full Stack Developer
Backend focused | Automotive logistics technology | Windsor, ON
Position Title
Title: Senior Full Stack Developer (Backend Focus)
Salary Range: $85,000 to $92,000 per year (CAD)
Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent
Location: Windsor, Ontario (in person)
Reports To: Technical Lead
Company
Hearn Industrial Services (HIS) keeps automotive supply chains moving. We run warehousing and distribution operations for major automotive manufacturers, including Ford and Stellantis, across sites in Canada and the United States. Our systems move real parts to real assembly lines every day, so the software you build shows up on the warehouse floor almost immediately.
The Team
You will join a small, collaborative in house development team led by the Technical Lead, within an IT function HIS is actively building and investing in. The team supports our warehouse management, ERP, integration, scanning, and reporting systems, works side by side on site, and uses AI tools in everyday development.
Growth Opportunities
- Shape a growing function. Help set the standards and practices of a team still being built.
- Broaden your expertise. Work across the whole business, including direct OEM integrations.
- Lead on emerging technology. Evaluate and introduce new tools, including AI.
- Grow as a technical leader. Mentor developers and take on more as the team expands.
Why You Will Love This Role
- Transparent, competitive pay. $85,000 to $92,000 per year, posted up front.
- Work that matters. Your code reaches production fast and supports major automotive brands.
- Low red tape. Decisions are made by the people doing the work, with a short path to approval.
- Benefits. A benefits package that begins after a 90 day probationary period.
- Work life balance. Regular weekday hours with no on call or after hours requirements.
Summary Description
Reporting to the Technical Lead, you will design, build, and maintain the backend platforms, APIs, and integrations that keep warehousing operations running for our automotive OEM customers. The emphasis is on backend engineering and software architecture: sound application design, reliable services, well designed databases, and dependable integrations with partner and customer systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that power warehouse, inventory, and shipping applications.
- Model, optimize, and maintain relational databases that support high volume transactional workloads.
- Develop and own integrations between internal systems and partner platforms.
- Shape application architecture, including service boundaries, domain models, and integration patterns, and document key design decisions.
- Guide technical direction by reviewing designs, recommending improvements to existing systems, and planning the modernization of legacy applications.
- Implement background jobs, scheduled processes, and queue-based workflows.
- Build internal web interfaces such as dashboards, operator tools, and admin panels on top of backend services.
- Write automated tests, participate in code reviews, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
- Support and troubleshoot production systems during regular business hours.
- Explore and introduce emerging technologies, including AI tools, to improve how we work.
Position Characteristics
This role focuses on problems where reliability matters. A delayed integration or a slow query can affect a shipment to an assembly plant, so the work calls for careful analysis and sound design. You will balance long term maintainability with current needs, modernizing existing applications while applying clean, testable architecture to new work.
You will have real influence over design, tooling, and testing decisions, in partnership with the Technical Lead.
Position Requirements
Education and Certifications
- A degree in computer science is preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
Knowledge and Experience
- Around 10 years of professional software development experience with a clear backend focus.
- Strong proficiency in C# and .NET.
- Automated testing as a routine part of development, including unit, integration, and end to end coverage.
- Practical experience applying Clean Architecture or Domain Driven Design patterns in production systems.
- Strong relational database skills, including schema design and query optimization, using SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
- Working knowledge of Blazor (preferred) or another modern frontend framework such as React, Angular, or Vue, sufficient to build internal tools and dashboards.
- Experience with system integrations and third party APIs.
Assets
- Experience designing and maintaining REST APIs in production (ASP.NET Core Minimal APIs is a plus).
- Exposure to warehousing, logistics, or the automotive industry, ideally supporting Ford, Stellantis, or Tier 1 suppliers.
- Familiarity with EDI concepts.
- CI/CD pipeline experience.
Personal Attributes
- Takes ownership of systems from design through production support.
- Curious about emerging technology and comfortable using AI tools in daily work.
- Brings ideas forward and follows them through to delivery.
Work Conditions
- Full time and in person at our Windsor, Ontario location, 8AM to 4:30PM, Monday to Friday.
Our Commitment to Inclusion
HIS is committed to building a team that reflects the communities we work in. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, including women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, members of racialized communities, and 2SLGBTQIA+ people. If you meet most of the requirements but not every one, we still encourage you to apply. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process, in line with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
