POSITION

Utility Network & Partners, Inc. (UTILITYnet) is seeking a talented PL/SQL (or Postgres) developer to join our dynamic team full-time. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining functionality that are critical to our business operations. You will work closely with other developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement high-quality code. Our code creates enrollment, billing, settlement, and support systems for electricity, natural gas and Internet services. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop PL/SQL (or Postgres) database solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Write complex SQL queries and create database triggers, functions, and procedures.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance database schemas, tables, views, and indexes.
  • Develop stored procedures, packages, and other database objects.
  • Optimize database performance by identifying and resolving issues related to database design, indexing, and query performance.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to database architecture, design, and implementation.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality code delivery.
  • Provide production support for database systems, troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
  • Ensure adherence to database security and data integrity standards.
  • Analysis, design, support, maintenance, and implementation of all aspects of Oracle systems to meet various marketing and operational requirements of the company.
  • Research, identify root causes, and troubleshoot issues in existing applications, whether functional, design, data, or configuration.
  • Develop technical specifications for systems development, design, and implementation from business interactions.
  • Ensure the Oracle database is properly set up and maintained to enable optimal query plans and execution.
  • Continually take the initiative to learn, and implement/share new ideas and learnings with the team.

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in PL/SQL (or Postgres) database development.
  • Experience in database design, development, and performance tuning.
  • Expertise in SQL, including complex queries, optimization techniques, and debugging.
  • Ability to develop stored procedures, packages, and triggers.
  • Strong understanding of database security, data integrity, and backup and recovery procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in software development.
  • Minimum five years of experience with PL/SQL.
  • Relevant experience with relational databases, database design, data modelling, data cleansing, and performance tuning.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Reside in Calgary.

SKILLS

  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and/or MySQL.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions such as AWS RDS or Azure SQL Database.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and DML.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle dictionary and DDL.
  • Proficiency in leveraging AI tools and technologies to improve productivity, automate routine tasks, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience evaluating AI-generated outputs for quality, accuracy, relevance, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Adherence to programming best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and debugging skills.
  • Excellent organizational and self-management skills.
  • Excellent accuracy, decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to work as part of a team in an open-concept office space.
  • Knowledge of Jira/SVN/Confluence/Tortoise is an asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
