The Opportunity:
Working remotely but travelling to assignments within the Greater Toronto Area, the successful candidate will be expected to cover various types of news events and support with video production. Applicants are expected to have excellent news judgment, an understanding of political issues at all levels and demonstrable strengths in accurate, clean reporting, plus a proven ability to initiate stories and enterprise features. Candidates must be familiar with emerging digital trends and opportunities, be able to shoot, edit and produce video and know how to leverage social media and digital platforms to break news and reach audiences. They must be comfortable filing stories for multiple platforms on tight deadlines and be keen to learn and experiment to find new ways to tell stories and engage readers.

Base Salary: $72,421.02
This is a unionized position subject to the terms and conditions of the collective
agreement. The starting salary listed in this job posting is based on the Year 1 rate outlined
in the collective agreement. Offers will be made based on the candidate's qualifications

What you’ll do:
- Create, edit and produce video content daily for multiple platforms.
- File video clips (with an eye toward vertical video) for digital platforms while working with digital teams and multimedia elements.
- Write stories for print, web and mobile audiences, tailoring content to meet the varying needs of those platforms.
- Initiate and develop ideas for enterprise stories and investigative projects.
- Cultivate sources and establish expertise to break stories and set the news agenda.
- A journalism degree or diploma
- At least five years of experience in a fast-paced and evolving media environment
- Proven ability to deliver accurate and compelling news reports and videos on tight deadlines
- Superior writing skills and news judgment
- A respected social media footprint
- Familiarity with appearing on video
- Proficiency in Final Cut Pro, Photoshop and WordPress
- Experience with JW player an asset
