Piping Designer (Junior / Intermediate) – Oil & Gas

About the Role

We are seeking a Piping Designer to join our Calgary team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working on a variety of upstream oil & gas projects and wants exposure to the full project lifecycle, from concept through detailed design.

Working alongside our engineering and design teams, you will contribute to the development of high-quality piping layouts, 3D models, and construction drawings while gaining valuable experience on a wide range of facility projects across Western Canada.

We are open to candidates at the junior and intermediate levels. Responsibilities, level, and compensation will be aligned with the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Experience Levels

The scope of responsibilities and level of independence will be aligned with experience.

Junior Designers (2–5 years)
Prepare drawings and 3D models with moderate supervision while contributing to multiple project deliverables.

Intermediate Designers (5+ years)
Independently prepare piping designs, coordinate with other disciplines, and support project execution with minimal supervision.

  • PFDs
  • P&IDs
  • Plot Plans
  • General Arrangements (GAs)
  • Isometric Drawings (ISOs)
  • Bills of Material (BOMs)
  • Develop equipment layouts and 3D piping models
  • Prepare line lists, material lists, and drawing registers
  • Participate in vendor drawing reviews
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines
  • Produce accurate, high-quality deliverables within project budgets and schedules
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate review comments into final deliverables

Qualifications

  • Engineering Design & Drafting Diploma or Process Piping Drafting Certificate
  • Experience levels ranging from junior to intermediate; experience in upstream oil & gas facilities in Western Canada is preferred
  • Please provide an unofficial transcript (juniors only)
  • AutoCAD
  • CADWorx
  • Navisworks
  • Working knowledge of industry drafting practices, codes, and standards
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to self-check work
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada. If you are not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you must maintain a valid work permit at all times.
