Full job description

JEI Learning Center Richmond Hill (1650 Elgin Mills Road AND 11685 Yonge St.) is an after-school enrichment program for students ages 4 to 13 (no infants or toddlers).

We are looking for experienced, committed individuals who will assist with our After School Program (1:10 ratio classrooms)

The candidate will work closely with the Directors and must be fluent in English (Oral, reading, writing).

This is a permanent part-time position.

Multiple weeknights: September to June 1:30pm-6:30pm (in-person) + July + August full days available!

Candidate must commit year-round. Local candidates only.

Teacher Assistant responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the classroom with activities related to the program (JEI English, Math, Reading & Writing, Problem Solving Math and Critical Thinking)
  • Monitor and motivate around 10-15 students between the ages of 4-12
  • Be energetic, flexible, and present a positive attitude
  • Exhibit positive and professional work habits such as punctuality, dependability, and confidentiality
  • Cover front desk when needed, answer phone calls

Priorities are given to candidates with:

  • Strong Math skills (Up to Grade 8)
  • Previous teaching/tutoring experience is a plus, especially exposure to different learning styles. Previous experience with special needs and/or learning disabilities a plus.
  • Criminal record check
