Full job description

We're looking for an Internal Tools & Automation Developer in the Winnipeg area to join our team! We want someone who is smart, hardworking, good-natured, and excited to take ownership of our internal tooling as we scale. This is a unique role that sits at the intersection of software engineering, process improvement, and product thinking — you'll partner directly with teams across the organization to understand how they work, identify where they're slowing down, and build the tools and automations that unblock them.

Who We Are:

Taiv is a fast-growing tech startup located in Winnipeg, Canada. Taiv uses AI to make business TV more fun, engaging, profitable, and easier to manage, starting with bars and restaurants. We've built proprietary tech that uses computer vision to watch live TV and improve the content with contextually-aware commercials, content, and games. Our tech also automates the manual AV tasks that venues have to do every day, to make bar management easier, standardized, and more profitable. We're venture-capital backed and graduated from Y Combinator, the world's top tech accelerator, in winter 2020. Program alumni include Airbnb, Instacart, DoorDash, etc. (www.ycombinator.com/topcompanies).

Who We're Looking For:

We're looking for a developer who works hard and wants to get in early and grow with the company. Your role will be focused on building internal tools and automations, but we're a small team and everyone wears a lot of hats. There's always room to grow in whichever area you enjoy the most! You'll have lots of responsibility and ownership of the projects that you work on and be integral in solving our toughest operational problems and building systems that will scale with us.

Example Projects:

  • Lead generation scrapers targeting bars and restaurants for the sales team
  • LLM-powered email triage tools that identify common inbound questions and suggest templated responses
  • Partner onboarding automation to help account managers get new partners up and running faster

Who You Are:

  • 3–6+ years of software development experience, with a track record of building and shipping real tools
  • Strong product and analytical thinking — able to translate messy, undefined problems into clear, scoped solutions
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable running discovery sessions and presenting recommendations
  • Hands-on experience integrating with APIs, CRMs, and third-party services
  • Practical experience with AI/LLM tooling (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, or similar)
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver with minimal oversight
  • Broad technical knowledge — you know what tools exist and when to use them vs. build from scratch
  • Located in Winnipeg or willing to relocate

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with automation platforms (e.g., Zapier, Make, n8n)
  • Experience with web scraping, data pipelines, or workflow automation tools
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot)
  • Background in or exposure to business operations, sales, or customer success workflows
  • Experience building internal dashboards or admin tooling

Perks:

  • Employee stock options
  • 100% employer-covered health benefits
  • Flex-time & unlimited paid vacation
  • Gym membership
  • Free parking
  • Catered lunches 3x per week
  • Dog-friendly office
  • Hybrid work model
