About Us: Since 1977, Westcan Advanced Communications Solutions has successfully deployed, maintained, and serviced mission-critical and public safety voice networks, coverage enhancement solutions, wireless broadband networks, and engineered microwave backhaul systems across Western Canada.

Our team includes experienced APEGA-certified engineers, PMP-certified project managers, and one of Western Canada’s largest groups of factory-trained technicians. We proudly support Heavy Industrial, Mining, Energy, Public Safety, Government, Commercial, and Municipal customers with reliable, integrated wireless communication systems where downtime is not an option.

Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Field Service Technician to join our growing team in Surrey, BC. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and enjoys working with a diverse range of stakeholders. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the successful delivery of field services, manage multiple priorities, and support large-scale projects while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs at client site across Alberta, British Columbia, and the Northwest Territories, with most work based in the lower mainland.
  • Coordinate and execute in-shop, on-site and mobile equipment installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, quality inspections, and performance testing of critical two-way radio systems, wireless broadband systems, ad related technologies.
  • Conduct troubleshooting (e.g. testing, fault isolation, repair, log analysis, alarm diagnostics, and operational measurements.)
  • Provide “On-Call’ support as required, under the direction of the Service Coordinator and designate.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous learning, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) standards, and fostering a safety conscious culture.
  • Mentor a support junior team member, sharing knowledge and technical expertise.
  • Assist with all other duties as required.

What You Bring

Experience & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Electronics, Wireless Systems, Networking, or a related field is preferred.
  • Network+ Certification or equivalent would be an asset.
  • Hands-on experience with BDA Systems, SCADA Radio Systems, and/or Motorola Solutions products is an asset.
  • Experience with dispatch consoles, paging infrastructure, repeater systems, broadband, microwave systems, and trunked radio systems is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of two-way RF radio communications and communication theory is preferred.
  • Experience in cabling, connector installation, system optimization, and commissioning, particularly for large-scale projects.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong technical and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to pass security clearances, as required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable, punctual, and dedicated to excellence in service.

Compensation:

This role offers a base salary of $25.00 – $44.00 per hour.
