Full job description

Who we are:

Sardine is the leading agentic risk platform for fighting financial crime. Our integrated solution unifies data across risk teams to help organizations stop fraud in real time, prevent AI-driven attacks, and automate fraud and AML operations. Sardine’s platform is strengthened by one of the fastest-growing fraud consortiums in the market, spanning more than 6 billion profiled devices, 800 million consumers, and 3 million businesses worldwide. Leading companies including FIS, GoDaddy, Intuit, Edward Jones, ZoomInfo, and Checkout.com rely on Sardine to secure and grow trust in their products.

Our culture:

  • We hire talented, self-motivated individuals with extreme ownership and high growth orientation.

  • We value performance and not hours worked. We believe you shouldn't have to miss your family dinner, your kid's school play, friends get-together, or doctor's appointments for the sake of adhering to an arbitrary work schedule.

  • We're a remote-first team spread across time zones, so no office to report to - work from wherever helps you do your best work. Just a couple of things to keep in mind: pay is based on where you're located, and you'll need to keep a home base in the country you're hired in. So while we love the "coffee shop today, mountains tomorrow" life, this isn't a passport-optional, work-from-anywhere-on-Earth kind of remote - think flexible within your country, not borderless.

Location:
Remote - Toronto or Vancouver

About the Role:

We’re looking for a People Business Partner - Tech to support our Engineering and Product teams. You believe strong culture and strong performance go hand in hand, and that neither happens by accident. You’ll partner closely with Engineering and Product leaders, managers, and their teams, bringing empathy, clarity, and sound judgment.

We’re a fast-growing, globally distributed team, which means change is constant. This role is about helping leaders build effective teams, develop technical talent, and support employees through growth.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Be a trusted thought partner to Engineering and Product leaders and managers, helping them lead effectively through growth, ambiguity, and change

  • Lead organizational design efforts to ensure teams are structured to scale, roles are clear, and talent is aligned with engineering and product priorities

  • Partner with leaders to identify talent gaps, plan for future team needs, and strengthen collaboration across Engineering and Product

  • Partner with People Operations and Legal to ensure People practices remain compliant across the regions where our teams operate

  • Own performance management cycles end to end, including feedback, promotions, role changes, and compensation discussions

  • Support clear career paths and consistent leveling for Engineering and Product roles, helping managers assess performance and growth

  • Use People data, context, and patterns to guide decisions about team effectiveness, engagement, and retention

  • Be an empathetic and steady point of contact for employee relations matters, handling sensitive situations with care and discretion

  • Coach managers through performance concerns, difficult conversations, and team conflicts

  • Own learning and development initiatives for Engineering and Product, identifying skill gaps and designing and delivering practical programs that strengthen manager effectiveness and support career growth

What you’ll bring:

  • 7+ years of experience in People roles, including 4+ years as a People Business Partner

  • Experience supporting Engineering and Product leaders in scale-up or high-growth SaaS environments

  • An understanding of how technical teams operate, including engineering and product collaboration, technical career paths, and leveling

  • Familiarity with international employment laws and compliance

  • A track record of working with globally distributed teams across cultures and time zones

  • Hands-on experience across organizational design, performance management, employee relations, and compensation

  • The ability to build credibility with technical leaders and translate business priorities into practical People solutions

  • The ability to be empathetic without avoiding difficult conversations

Benefits we offer:

  • Generous compensation in cash and equity

  • Early exercise for all options, including pre-vested

  • Work from anywhere: Remote-first Culture

  • Flexible paid time off and Year-end break

  • Health insurance, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents - US and Canada specific

  • 4% matching in 401k / RRSP - US and Canada specific
