Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to support a sole parctitioner in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative, research, and legal drafting skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in legal procedures and file management while contributing to the smooth operation of our firm. The position requires proficiency in document proofreading, and file management. Candidates should demonstrate excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and familiarity with legal software including Teraview, PC Law, Esatate -a -Base . This is a paid position suitable for individuals with clerical experience seeking to advance their career in the legal field.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, proofread, and review legal documents, correspondence, and reports with high accuracy
  • Manage and organize files
  • Assist with file management tasks, including tracking deadlines and milestones
  • Perform data entry and maintain detailed records of case activities and client information
  • Support administrative functions such as filing, scanning, and organizing physical and electronic documents
  • Prepare for client interviews by gathering relevant information and scheduling appointments
  • Handle phone inquiries with professional phone etiquette and direct calls appropriately
  • Assist with client communication, including drafting correspondence and follow-up emails
  • Support the legal team during trial preparation and other litigation activities as needed

Experience

  • Proven administrative experience within a legal or professional office environment is preferred
  • Strong proofreading, writing, and legal drafting skills are essential
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively
  • Demonstrated skills and attention to detail in document review processes
  • Knowledge of clerical procedures such as filing, data entry, and maintaining records
  • Strong interpersonal skills including professional phone etiquette and client interaction abilities
