Manager of Supporting Homefulness - 12 Month Term
Job Posting:
CMHA Shuswap‑Revelstoke is a trusted, community‑focused mental health organization dedicated to improving the well‑being of individuals and families across the region. With more than 30 years of local service, the organization delivers accessible programs, advocacy, and support to promote mental wellness.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Interim Manager of Supporting Homefulness is responsible for the overall coordination and leadership of CMHA supportive housing, shelter, and homeless services at CMHA Shuswap/Revelstoke. As an integral part of the management team, this position ensures that programs are person- centered, harm-reduction-focused and that all programs, staff and volunteers are supported to succeed and excel.
Specific Accountabilities
Program Oversight
- Provide oversight of supportive housing, transitional housing, shelter, and outreach services to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Monitor program performance, ensuring that services remain on track and aligned with the work-plan, CMHA standards and contractual expectations.
- Identify and respond to operational challenges, risks, and emerging needs in a timely and practical manner.
- Act as a point of escalation for program-related issues, ensuring effective and timely resolution.
- Provide direct supervision and guidance to Team Leads and provide leadership support to front-line teams (28-35 employees).
- Ensure teams are well-supported, resourced and equipped to support safe and effective program delivery.
- Support the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely program documentation and reporting, as required.
- Comply with all legal and operational requirements to maximize funder contributions.
- Maintain knowledge of BC Housing and Interior Health requirements, including but not limited to Rent Supplements, as well as the BC Residential Tenancy Act and Regulations.
- Ensure all contractors comply with organizational privacy, safety, and professionalism policies.
- Adhere to consistent program participant selection criteria.
- Oversee tenancy arbitration and propose end-of-program plans to the Executive Director.
- Ensure timely reporting of program reports to the Executive Director and others as appropriate.
- Maintain Occupational Health and Safety program, including adherence to policies, procedures, inspections, reporting, investigations and training requirements.
- Provides regular reporting on program stats and critical incidents, as required by the organization and funders.
- Work closely with other managers and programs to ensure effective delivery of organizational programs and services.
- Collaborates with external partners and stakeholders, such as RCMP, City, other non-profit organizations etc.
People Leadership
- Promote a respectful and psychologically safe work environment.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication across teams, other programs and leadership.
- Partner with HR and Team Leads to support recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of staff.
- Conduct performance management activities, including coaching, providing feedback, and addressing performance concerns.
- Lead and support the resolution of workplace conflicts, promoting respectful and fair outcomes.
- Partner with HR to address employee relations matters with sensitivity and consistency.
- Conduct, oversee, and participate in workplace investigations in accordance with organizational policies, collective agreement, and applicable legislation.
- Partner with HR to navigate complex employee issues or workplace concerns.
- Ensure that all employee matters are handled in alignment with CMHA values and with professionalism and consistency.
This position provides cross-program coverage when needed and supports the after-hours on-call rotation.
Qualifications
- Master's-level education in human services, organizational development, or similar is preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in human services, such as mental health, homelessness services, or community-based social services.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience managing front-line teams in complex, client-centred environments.
- Understanding of trauma-informed, harm-reduction care models and experience working with high-needs or vulnerable populations is required.
- Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
- Excellent knowledge in relation to mental health, substance use and concurrent disorders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated collaborative leadership style.
- Ability to develop and manage budgets within operational parameters.
- Excellent computer skills and ability to utilize relevant new technology in the workplace. Working knowledge of HIFIS and Housing Connections is an asset.
- Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
This union-exempt position is performed in an office environment in Salmon Arm. Regular travel to work sites in Salmon Arm is required.
This position is 37.5 hours per week, during regular administration hours Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Flexibility may be required during special events or deadlines. The anticipated start date is mid-late August, with a 12-month duration.
As part of the management team, the Manager of Supporting Homefulness supports the on-call program and provides after-hours phone coverage on a rotational basis.
The salary range for this role is $90,000 – 110,000. Compensation will be commensurate with education and relevant experience. A comprehensive benefit package is provided.
This role will remain open until it has been filled, and the first resume review will take place on July 20, 2026.
