Criminal Defence Lawyer

White & Jeet LLP – Medicine Hat, AB
Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

White & Jeet LLP is a growing criminal defence firm seeking a Criminal Defence Lawyer to join our Medicine Hat office. We represent clients across Alberta and appear regularly in Provincial Court and the Court of King’s Bench.

This position is open to all experience levels—from newly called lawyers to experienced counsel.

You will have the opportunity to build and run your own files while gaining consistent courtroom exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in bail hearings, trials, sentencings, and appeals
  • Manage criminal files from intake to resolution
  • Review disclosure and prepare defence strategies
  • Conduct legal research and draft submissions
  • Appear in court in Medicine Hat and throughout Alberta (including circuit courts)
  • Communicate effectively with clients, Crown, and the Court

Qualifications

  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta (or eligible for transfer)
  • Interest or experience in criminal law
  • Strong advocacy and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced caseload
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel
  • Active status on the Criminal Roster with Legal Aid Alberta, including access to and familiarity with its online portal, is considered a strong asset.
