Our premises are within the Purdy's Wharf complex which provides amenities such as an on-site daycare and a fitness centre. Our office is connected to the downtown pedway system and situated on Halifax's beautiful waterfront providing easy access to ferry and bus transit hubs, banks, restaurants, and shopping.

The opportunity

We are seeking to fill a Manager, Information Technology within our Technology & Infrastructure Services (TIS) division. This position leads the Technical Specialist team responsible for technology infrastructure, operational systems, and cybersecurity services.

Reporting to the Director, Technology and Infrastructure Services, the Manager sets priorities, coordinates resources, and ensures technical and cybersecurity work is delivered effectively, documented appropriately, and aligned with organizational requirements, risk expectations, departmental plans, and ITIL practices.

Key responsibilities include overseeing technology operations, system maintenance, cybersecurity activities, technical documentation, service management records, change and release management, incident response, vendor management, testing, and risk management.

The Manager also builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and service providers, while supporting the development of the Technical Specialist team through coaching, training, workload management, and performance feedback.

What you need to be successful

  • A university degree in a related field including Computer science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology
  • A minimum of seven (7) years in progressively responsible roles leading technology initiatives and a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience leading a team and managing performance in a service-oriented environment. An acceptable equivalent combination of training, education and related experience may be considered.
  • Experience leading technical operations, managing workloads, allocating resources, and resolving service-impacting issues.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, implementation plans, procedures, system diagrams, and service records.
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, service agreements, and performance standards.
  • Experience with ITIL practices, ITSM tools, service reporting, KPIs, change, release, problem, incident, validation, and testing processes.
  • Experience managing technology, cybersecurity, operational, and project risks, including vulnerabilities, control assessments, risk records, and security metrics.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles, controls, and incident response practices. A recognized certification such as CISSP, or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • Experince with Cyber Risk management principles and Frameworks, such as NIST, CSF, and ISO

Job Status: Permanent Full Time

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week

Salary Range: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience
