Scheduler / Planner

Newfound Mechanical Ltd. is looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Scheduler / Planner to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules for commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, procurement, subcontractors, and suppliers, the Scheduler / Planner will help ensure work is properly planned, coordinated, and completed on schedule.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with construction or mechanical experience who enjoys planning, problem-solving, coordinating people and resources, and keeping projects moving forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, including detailed short-term and long-term plans.
  • Plan and sequence construction activities to support project milestones and completion dates.
  • Work closely with project and site teams to collect progress updates and maintain accurate schedules.
  • Monitor project progress and identify delays, conflicts, constraints, and potential schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, subcontractors, inspections, testing, commissioning, and other activities required to maintain project schedules.
  • Track procurement and long-lead materials to ensure they are available when required.
  • Prepare look-ahead schedules and communicate upcoming activities, milestones, and critical dates.
  • Assist Project Managers and Construction Managers with recovery schedules and mitigation plans when projects fall behind.
  • Identify scheduling impacts related to RFIs, design changes, material availability, site conditions, and other project issues.
  • Attend project, site, coordination, and scheduling meetings as required.
  • Prepare schedule updates, progress reports, and other planning documentation for project teams and senior management.
  • Maintain accurate records of project progress, schedule changes, delays, and impacts.
  • Review drawings, specifications, scopes, and project documentation to understand project requirements and sequencing.
  • Work with project teams to improve planning, coordination, and overall project performance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 2+ years of experience in construction scheduling, planning, project coordination, or a related role.
  • Construction or mechanical industry experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of construction activities, sequencing, and project milestones.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and follow-up skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and project documentation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar software is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently while also working effectively with project and site teams.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
