Available Position: Detailer, Truro Location

MacKay’s Truck & Trailer Center is looking for a reliable, hands-on Detailer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, has a strong eye for detail, and enjoys keeping trucks, trailers, and equipment looking their best for customers and internal use.

MacKay’s is a family-owned business with over 40 years of experience operating full-line Truck, Trailer & Compact Equipment dealerships, with locations in Truro and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and Moncton, New Brunswick.

About the Role:

The Detailer plays an important role in our customer experience and brand image by ensuring that all vehicles and equipment are cleaned, detailed, and presented to a high standard. This includes preparing units for delivery, sales, and service, as well as supporting general shop and yard cleanliness. The Detailer works closely with the Service and Sales teams to ensure units are ready on time and in top condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and detail trucks, trailers, and equipment, including interior and exterior.
  • Perform washing, degreasing, vacuuming, polishing, and finishing tasks.
  • Prepare units for customer delivery and sales photos, including final touch ups.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wash bay, detailing area, and related equipment.
  • Support the overall appearance of the yard and building, including basic cleaning tasks as required.
  • Move vehicles and equipment in and out of the shop and yard in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including use of PPE, safe chemical handling, and equipment operation.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met before units are released.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience in detailing, automotive cleaning, or a similar role is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Comfortable operating and maneuvering trucks, trailers, and equipment in the yard.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physically able to perform repetitive motions, bend, lift, and stand for extended periods.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Safety-focused, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
