About the Company

British Columbia Marine Logistics (BCML) is a marine-based safety and emergency response company currently serving the Howe Sound in Squamish, BC. Our mission is to protect people, the environment, and assets through professional, rapid-response services on and around the water. We provide on-site emergency response services in technical rescue, marine rescue, wildland fire fighting, environmental protection, and emergency medical support to marine and shore-based operations for the WLNG project. https://bcmarinelogistics.ca/

Position Overview

As an Emergency Response Technician (ERT) , you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of on-site personnel both on land and in the marine environment in Squamish and the surrounding waters. You will be part of a highly skilled team responsible for responding to marine and industrial emergencies, including medical incidents, technical rescue, environmental protection and wildfire response. This position demands strong situational awareness, teamwork, and a commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to marine and industrial emergencies, including marine rescues, medical incidents, and fire or spill events.
  • Operate ambulances, fire trucks, side by sides, fast rescue craft (FRCs), workboats, and other marine assets safely and efficiently.
  • Provide first aid, CPR, and emergency medical assistance to personnel as required.
  • Participate in regular ERT training, drills, and certification exercises.
  • Assist with safety standby operations for marine and industrial projects.
  • Maintain emergency equipment, vessels, and response gear in a state of readiness.
  • Support environmental protection efforts, including spill containment and mitigation.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal operations during incidents.

Uphold all company, client, and regulatory safety policies as required. Assist with vessel/vehicle maintenance and servicing.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Strong swimming ability and comfortable working on the water
  • Physically fit and capable of working in demanding conditions
  • Valid BC Class 4 Drivers License (or higher) and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call rotations
  • High Angle Operations
  • Confined Space operations
  • High Angle Technician
  • Confined Space Technician
  • Low to Steep slope Rescue
  • Small Vessel Operator Proficiency certificate (SVOP).
  • Small Domestic Vessel Basic Safety (SDV-BS)
  • ROC-M Marine Radio Certification
  • Advanced First Aid - OFA 3 or EMR
  • Airbrakes endorsement
  • S100
  • ICS 100 or higher

Preferred:

  • Experience in emergency services such as paramedicine, technical rescue, marine-based operations, Search and Rescue, industrial emergency response, or firefighting
  • Familiarity with spill response and environmental protection procedures
  • Prior experience in coastal or industrial safety-focused operations
