System Development Manager & Technology Leader

Lead the team building the technology that drives a growing international business.

Advantage DataSystems Corporation (ADS) supports Advantage Parts Solutions and Fix Auto UK. Our team designs, develops, and supports business-critical applications, integrations, reporting platforms, and data solutions that help the business operate more effectively.

For more than 35 years, Advantage has been connecting OEM Parts Suppliers with automotive repair businesses across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Today, our network includes more than 2,000 OEM Parts Suppliers, over 37,000 automotive repair businesses, and 80+ markets represented by our Business Development Managers.

This is more than a software development management role, it's an opportunity to influence technology strategy, lead a talented development team, and deliver solutions that create measurable business value.

The Opportunity

As our System Development Manager & Technology Leader, you'll provide both technical and people leadership while helping shape the future of software development at Advantage DataSystems.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six software developers.
  • Report directly to the IT Director and work closely with leadership across the organization.
  • Manage the software development roadmap, priorities, and delivery commitments.
  • Partner with business leaders to translate operational needs into practical technology solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership on application architecture, systems integration, databases, and development standards.
  • Improve software quality by strengthening development processes, testing, documentation, and release management.
  • Balance new development, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring priorities remain aligned with business needs.
  • Lead the resolution of production issues by supporting root-cause analysis and driving continuous improvements to system reliability.
  • Communicate project status, priorities, risks, and recommendations clearly to leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Identify practical opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and data to improve business performance.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

If you're motivated by building exceptional teams, improving technology, and solving business challenges, you'll find an opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact.

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of software development experience.
  • 5+ years leading software development teams.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, support, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven experience delivering business-critical applications, enterprise systems, or other operational software solutions.
  • Experience managing multiple technology priorities while consistently delivering results.
  • Strong technical judgment, including the ability to evaluate designs, assess risks, balance trade-offs, and guide maintainable solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching technical teams and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with business leaders, operations teams, IT staff, vendors, and end users.

Technical Leadership Experience

The successful candidate will have experience leading the design, development, and delivery of enterprise business applications within a Microsoft technology environment. Experience with many of the following is considered an asset:

  • C# / .NET
  • SQL Server
  • Microsoft Azure
  • REST APIs and systems integration
  • Enterprise business applications
  • Reporting and data platforms
  • DevOps, source control, and modern software development practices

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, you'll help:

  • Build a high-performing, accountable software development team.
  • Improve visibility into development priorities, project status, and delivery commitments.
  • Strengthen software quality through improved testing, documentation, and release practices.
  • Build stronger partnerships between IT and business leaders through clear communication and reliable execution.
  • Identify practical opportunities to leverage automation, AI, and data to improve business performance.
  • Help modernize the technology that supports Advantage Parts Solutions and Fix Auto UK.

Over time, you'll help shape the future of technology at Advantage by developing people, modernizing systems, and driving continuous improvement across the organization.

Why Join Advantage?

At Advantage, technology is recognized as a strategic advantage, not simply a support function. You'll join a collaborative, entrepreneurial organization where ideas move quickly and your contributions have a direct impact on the business.

Guided by our purpose of Creating Exceptional Value With Exceptional People, we invest in our employees, encourage innovation, and empower our teams to solve meaningful business challenges every day.

Ready to Make an Impact?
