Our mission is to streamline the property conveyancing process for lawyers and clerks, ensuring it is optimized for today's needs and future innovations. We pride ourselves on our values of trust, integrity, and delivering a world-class product.

About the Role

We’re recruiting for an experienced UX Researcher to spearhead a wide range of research initiatives here at Lawlabs Inc. In this role, you will reveal what our users need from our product by conducting research, working remotely with cross-functional teams, and performing usability studies as we continue to develop Closer, our software that is streamlining the property closing process for lawyers, clerks and their clients across Ontario.

You’re a great fit for this role if you're:

  • You're curious by nature! You love digging in to understand the behaviour of people and why they do the things they do.
  • You have demonstrated success in research facilitation as well as comfort in the role of research observer.
  • You're confident with industry standard contextual research methods, user interview techniques and usability testing practices.
  • You’re comfortable working autonomously for stretches of time but also thrive in a collaborative setting working directly with colleagues and end users.

What will your day-to-day look like?

  • Working with our UX team to articulate research plans and define hypotheses to test at different stages of product development.
  • Designing and leading the execution of a variety of customer research that will enable our team to understand customer pain points and behaviors.
  • Aggregating results from multiple data sources and communicating findings to inform product, design, engineering and marketing decisions.
  • Researching competing solutions to gain an understanding of current state and disseminating findings back to the product team.
  • Conducting usability tests with lawyers and clerks based on designs created by our product team and assisting with iteration processes.
  • Critiquing wireframes and prototypes along with using user insights to offer alternative ideas.
  • Identifying, articulating and prioritizing potential usability issues.
  • Facilitating internal meetings to triage and/or manage research findings.
  • Communicating usability analysis, recommendations and potential design solutions.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor/Master of Science in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Science or a related field.
  • Proficiency in a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods, including think aloud usability studies, contextual inquiries, remote usability testing, parallel prototyping, card sorting and A/B testing.
  • Knowledge of current and evolving research tools, best practices and processes.
  • Practical experience executing both generative and evaluation research methodologies.
  • Great collaboration skills and a love for working with others to understand and solve user problems.
  • Experience with common user research and usability testing methodologies and proven ability using data to inform your designs and decisions.

Bonus if you possess some of the following experience:

  • Proven experience with UX Research, tools and techniques
  • Prior work on B2B SaaS / web-based software products

This position is for an existing vacancy.
