The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) is a special operating agency within the Department of National Defence (DND). We work to ensure the safety of mariners in Canadian waters and protect Canada’s marine environment. We support Canada’s economic growth through the safe and efficient movement of maritime trade. We help to ensure our country’s sovereignty and security through our presence in Canadian waters. The CCG proudly serves 243,000 kilometers of Canada’s vast and rugged coastline, the longest coastline of any given country, and is one of the few federal agencies that provides direct, front-line services 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers, offering over 70 types of civilian career opportunities. - Willing and able to obtain a Health Canada medical certificate
- Valid Class 5 Driver's license
- Willing and able to travel on various means of transport including ships, small vessels and aircraft to remote locations and abroad, knowing that such travel may be frequent and seasonal
- Willing and able to work overtime, be on call according to a schedule (day and night, seven days a week) and occasionally work weekends, in accordance with the collective agreement
- Willing and able to work in potentially hazardous or adverse conditions such as those found in the marine environment and in remote locations
- Willing and able to work in emergency situations
- Willing and able to travel for extended periods on short notice
- Possession of a valid Canadian Passport
- Willing and able to wear the Canadian Coast Guard uniform
- Willing and able to wear CSA approved personal safety equipment related to the job
- Willing to safely and securely possess and operate government devices such as cell phones and laptop computers
- Willing to give statements and/or testimony related to legal proceedings such as court or tribunals (Monitoring & Compliance only)

- Valid Radio Operator’s Certificate (Maritime Commercial).
