Full job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to manage a full range of accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records and the general ledger.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare bank, credit card, and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and file GST/HST, PST, and other government remittances.
  • Support the Internal Controller with accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and other finance-related functions.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Perform other accounting, administrative, and related duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive bookkeeping experience.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing month-end and year-end financial reports.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in the food retail industry is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a multi-entity or multi-location environment is an asset.
