Full job description

About us

Madison Hair Collection makes human hair wigs and toppers for women experiencing hair loss. For nine years, our focus has been helping our customers feel like themselves again.

That depends on getting the small details right. The hairline, the knots, the cut, and the final style are what make a wig look like natural hair instead of a wig. This role is responsible for those details.

About the role

This is a part-time, work-from-home position preparing wigs for sale. You’ll pick up new pieces and drop off finished ones once a week, and you’ll do the work from your own home on your own schedule within each weekly cycle.

You’ll work on up to 20–30 wigs per week. That’s approximately 12–15+ hours per week, depending on volume and your pace.

This is a real, ongoing position, not a side gig. We depend on our stylists to show up consistently, meet weekly timelines, and treat every piece as if it’s going to a client sitting in their chair, because it is.

Pay

  • $35–$40 per piece (piecework)
  • Typically works out to $45–$60 per hour as you build speed
  • Approximately $700–$1,200 per week at 20–30 wigs

What you’ll do

  • Detailed hairline work. This includes small amounts of colouring and bleaching knots so the hairline looks natural. Full training is provided.
  • Light cutting. Adding face-framing, layers, and refining or touching up styles.
  • Quality control. Inspecting each piece closely, catching anything that isn’t right, and fixing it before it comes back to us. A detailed quality control checklist is provided, so no prior wig experience is needed.
  • Styling and boxing. Finishing each wig so it’s ready to go straight to a customer.

Who this role is for

This role is a great fit if you:

  • Have at least 1 year of experience as a trained hairstylist
  • Are extremely detail-oriented and take real pride in precise work
  • Notice your own mistakes and fix them before handing work off
  • Welcome feedback and use it to improve
  • Are reliable and responsible, and do what you say you’ll do, when you say you’ll do it
  • Want steady, ongoing work, not something to fit in occasionally

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience as a trained hairstylist
  • A reliable vehicle of your own for weekly pick-up and drop-off
  • A non-smoking home. This is non-negotiable. Hair absorbs odours easily, and our pieces go directly to customers.
  • Ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule of approximately 12–15+ hours

No wig experience? That’s okay.

You don’t need prior experience working on wigs. We provide full training on our hairline techniques and a detailed quality control checklist. What we need from you is strong stylist fundamentals and a careful eye.

Highly desirable

  • Strong skills in short haircuts. If short cuts are your specialty, please tell us.

What you can expect from us

  • Full training on our hairline techniques
  • A detailed quality control checklist to guide every piece
  • Piecework pay of $35–$40 per piece, which typically works out to $45–$60/hour
  • Flexible hours, worked from home
  • Consistent, ongoing work with a small, supportive team that cares about doing things well

How to apply

Please send your resume along with short answers to these three questions:

  • How many years have you worked as a stylist, and where?
  • Tell us about a time you caught a mistake in your own work. What did you do?
  • What does “reliable” look like to you in a role like this?

We read every application carefully. Applications that don’t include answers to these questions won’t be considered.

Pay: $45.00-$60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12.0 – 18.0 per week

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
  • Flexible schedule
  • Work from home

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Edmonton, AB
