Department: Production Planning
Duration: Summer Co-op (4 Months) with the opportunity to extend for an additional one or two academic terms based on performance and business needs.

Position Summary

Fil-Trek is seeking a motivated Production Planning Co-op Student to support continuous improvement initiatives within our manufacturing operations. This position offers hands-on experience in production planning, plant organization, process mapping, and lean manufacturing while working alongside Production, Engineering, and Operations teams to improve workflow efficiency.

The successful candidate will gain practical experience by analyzing manufacturing processes, developing standardized layouts, and supporting projects that improve productivity, safety, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing and updating plant layouts for manufacturing departments.
  • Create and maintain standardized bay numbering throughout the facility.
  • Document and map production process flows from material receiving through final assembly and shipping.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, material movement, and production efficiency.
  • Assist with time studies and production observations.
  • Develop visual management tools, production maps, and standardized work documentation.
  • Support production scheduling and planning activities as required.
  • Work with Production, Engineering, and Quality departments on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain project documentation, reports, and implementation timelines.

Co-op Projects

The student will be responsible for leading and supporting projects including:

  • Complete plant layout review and documentation.
  • Standardized bay numbering system for all production areas.
  • Development of detailed process flow maps for each manufacturing department.
  • Identification of production bottlenecks and recommendations for workflow improvements.
  • Creation of visual production maps and facility documentation to support future growth and automation initiatives.

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
