Position Overview

We are seeking a creative, hard-working individual who is driven to advance their skill set in a dynamic and innovative environment. The successful candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, and an ability to execute design standards effectively.

As a Mechanical Engineer at MEER, you will be responsible for the development and management of assigned project work during all phases, from inception through planning, design, and construction, in accordance with the project scope, schedule and budget.

Role Responsibilities

The position will involve carrying out the following tasks, and includes coordinating with a team of engineers and technicians:

  • Managing the day-to-day the engineering related project elements, simultaneously manage multiple projects in different stages.
  • Working with and mentoring intermediate and junior team members as needed.
  • Understanding and evaluate building heating and cooling, size and select equipment, and conduct construction site reviews.
  • Design mechanical and plumbing systems for commercial buildings.
  • Understanding of energy modeling software and report writing for building energy and carbon impact analysis.
  • Coordinate with other consulting disciplines to ensure drawing integrity and completeness.
  • Provide technical and administrative support through all phases of the project.
  • Work with contractors and respond to technical inquiries.
  • Assist project manager with the creation and maintenance of comprehensive project documentation and schematics.
  • Work with project team and Project Manager to ensure on-time project completion.
  • Review architectural, structural, and electrical drawings.
  • Provide detailed, high quality and timely designs of finished products to clients.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Compensated overtime as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Experience and Education:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in a related field such as Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology or Building Systems Technology.
  • 5-10+ years of work experience in the HVAC and/or Mechanical Consulting.
  • Expertise and Background using Revit and BIM. Including family development, add-ins, and integration of point clouds.
  • Expertise in energy modelling using HAP or Trace.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools including Excel and Word.
  • Experience working with customers and client base.
  • Experience working in a team-based environment.
  • Experience in site investigations and construction review is considered an asset.

  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Engineering standards and Associations.

Pay: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
